UE4 LowLevelFatalError / start-up error
Hello,

my game crashes on start-up.

After showing the UE, Cyanide and Focus intros, for some seconds the game shows some weird distorted loading screen I believe and than crashes with the following error message.

I have the same error on another UE4 game, but got no answer there. Hopefully someone can help me here.

Hi Laggy,

according to the errors the engine try to create a texture with 22048x564 that look s like a very strange size.

I would suggest removing all secondary display device to keep only one, then changing the resolution to something common like 1920x1080 and trying to launch the game again.

I hope it helps.

I have only one device plugged in with a resolution of 1280x1024.

Is the game resolution set in one of the AppData ini-files? If yes, what command? They are empty because the game doesn't start properly i think.

You may give a try editing the graphic configuration file as explained in the pinned topic.

Try filling GameUserSettings.ini with

[ScalabilityGroups] sg.ViewDistanceQuality=0 sg.AntiAliasingQuality=0 sg.ShadowQuality=0 sg.PostProcessQuality=0 sg.TextureQuality=0 sg.EffectsQuality=0 [/script/engine.gameusersettings] ResolutionSizeX=1024 ResolutionSizeY=768 FullscreenMode=2 DesiredScreenWidth=1024 DesiredScreenHeight=768 bUseDesiredScreenHeight=False LastCPUBenchmarkResult=-1.000000 LastGPUBenchmarkResult=-1.000000 LastGPUBenchmarkMultiplier=1.000000

The manual entry of the commands fixed the problem. And the other game is working too now :)

Thanks a lot!

Hi
I know I should create a new post and I did but no one answer to me. I played the game without a crash for 2 weeks then after the patch yesterday I keep crashing in game (solo) each minute or each 30 sec !
Visual C+ Ok and also all the fixes of the technical FAQ... I checked the game files 3 times at least, GPU driver OK etc.

LATER I got the big Windows update 10.0.15063 and I not only repaired but totaly uninstalled and reinstalled the game... nothing works !

PLEASE HELP !

LATER EDIT it's getting worse I crash as I touch the key to walk. If I load an old save it works till I get to the same place

Windows 10
GeForce GTX 1070
Ram 8
CPU i7

Thanks for answering. I Had done this before.. it didn't work. This occured only in mission 7 "escape from the sanctuary" (translated from french) and in the very last room before escape.
I went my way back and passed by the cieling and successed to finish the mission... i am now starting the next one and still not sure all is fixed. I will post later if this happens again.
THANKS

Tried this fix and now the game wouldn't even start. Blank screen at startup.
Installed the game in another computer and the error is still there.
Tired of wasting time trying a fix, I'm going to abandon it and vote it negative. A game is worthless if you can onl play half of it, and if it make you waste time trying fixes.
