The Thief game we fans wanted?!
The thief games (up to Thief II) are on my all time favorite list. Dishonered and Dishonored 2 did not quench that thirst. Didnt really like either of them. But the first Styx is the closest ive got to something resembling the amazing Thief expirience.

Hopefully this installment will be just as good and not dumbed down to pamper the console people.

haha cannot agree more my frend , i totaly feeling same way styx maybe dont have such great leveldesign and story teling but its mechnics are probably best i see in stealth game.

Not great level design? What... It*s the best level designing Ive seen during last couple of years around stealthy games.

If anything, the mechanics could be improved because sometimes the guards are too blind.

Thief was good.

Styx 1 was a pile of crap.

Don't ever compare the two again.

Yeah, I agree with the OP. Styx is a game that rewards effort. I was underwhelmed at first, but it wasn't too long before it sank the hooks in and the longer I played, the more I loved it.

Says a lot for a game when you can put in over 200 hours and STILL be learning new tricks!

Hopefully the new game will have even more depth and complexity than the original. If the gameplay shown in the video is anything to go by, then I'm expecting it will.

As much awesome as Styx is can't beat Dishonored 1 & 2.

HA.

It rewards: Rushing thru levels

Nitpicking stupid golden coins that have no actual use or meaning other than to give you a meaningless objective

Not killing people, which means you have to take it slow

and not being seen, which means you have to go slow

The only reward is the fact that you can replay every level until you get it right.

@Sebine You say you liked the Thief games, so you're obviously a fan of the Stealth genre... I don't get why you have such an aversion to Styx. Most of the things you listed as negatives just seem like staples of Stealth games in general to me, and I think their implementation in Styx was very well done.

Horses for courses I guess, but I would recommend anyone with an interest in Stealth games to give Styx a fighting chance. I'm glad I did, otherwise I would have missed out on one of the most enjoyable gaming experiences I've ever had.

Yes, I liked it that much.

Actual stealth games don't give you stupid meaningless goals and then punish you for not fufilling them.

Styx has poor controls

Poor tutorials

Meaningless objectives (again the coins) > There's not even a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ achievement for it, unless you count "My precious" which is stupidly vague

The games been out for 2 years and the entirety of it is relegated to a foot note in a wiki
http://oforcsandmen.wikia.com/wiki/Styx:_Master_of_Shadows
"Oh by the by, this crap game exists. It's terribad to the point that we didn't even bother."

He has to unlock a skill to do basic things like drop killing... wow... that's nice.

There's no RUN button.

The duels are unbelivably retarded
Yes
I'm going to STAND HERE
OUT IN THE OPEN
AND DUEL THIS GUY
IN AN ASSASSINATION GAME
>>Forgot to mention >> WHILE EVERYONE ELSE ON THE ENTIRE ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ LEVEL THROWS DAGGERS AT ME AND SHOOTS ME.
BECAUSE THAT'S INTELLIGENT GAMEPLAY.
>You don't want to duel? Well too bad, it's going to be EXCEEDINGLY DIFFICULT to NOT duel
Nice, very nice.

This game is TERRIBLE.
It came out TWO YEARS after Dishonored
and can't hold a candle to it.
It dishonors (LOL) Thief as a homage to it.

Level design in styx is not bad but if you compare it to Thief 2 it is not even close. Thief 2 have bigger more open levels whitch are more immersive and actualy tell store them self. Styx is too linear and segmenter and and levels dont realy make that much sense.
But i compare it to thief 2 in my opinion game with best level design in any videogame i ewer played :)

Except when they make you play the (almost exactly) same level twice in a row.

But that dont mean leveldesign is at fault and i dont realy mind backtracking when it makes sense and gameplay is good it didnt bother me in styx and styx used one location 3 times.

Styx reward you for fulfiling those goals like sidequest whitch help you prepare on main chalenge. But i admite its unbalanced here.

Game tells you when you complete objective for every level individualy i would say it works beter as any achievement

You runing automaticly Styx is not suposed to be fast he has short legs and it have gameplay reasons too you are not suposed to outrun enemys but use your agility to hide in enviroment

Dueling in this game is bad but it is stealt game, styx is not warior he is thief and assasin. He is suposed to avoid or attack from shadows.I dont saying that stealt game cannot have good combat but that is not focus.

I am sory but WHAT Dishonored may be beter made game in lot of aspects but lets compare those two like stealt games=

Styx
-combat is always harder than stealth and stealt is hard
-leathal and nonleathal styles are diferent but balanced
-you need ewery tool and abylity you can get

Dishonored
-you can enter level use teleport 4 times and without meeting any guards kill
your target there is just soo many shortcuts
-you have always enought money for weaponry to wipe out ewery threath
-if you want avoided enemy just teleport
-if you in troble dont wory just teleport
-if you want skipp all that gameplay just ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ teleport
