Not necessary to 100% everything. You just need all the other Quartz abilities unlocked, so there's a fair amount of leeway, you can leave half of each tree unfinished. I got it as soon as I finished my initial playthrough, which was Shadow + Thief + Mercy minus one or two levels earlier on where I'd killed everyone.
As to how good Flow Control is - it's absurdly good. Being able to use up amber without worrying about supplies is great. You can throw away clones without concern (with upgraded rebirth they turn into free healing potions). You can pop off an upgraded invisibility for a few seconds to sprint through an open area before it starts to degen and it'll regen itself super fast, or use a full invisibility bar to get a lot done and it's still back up full in good time. Made Swiftness a piece of cake.
Basically, it turns Invisibility from a niche tool that you use cautiously (due to amber costs) into a general purpose tool you can use frequently.
yeah which is good for me since speed run on the mines is a little bit beyond me at this point
When I got to the big open area where you see the stairs leading down (the one that has the trolls patrolling it) I used a coccoon toss to get to the next platform in that area instead of passing through the big chamber with all the dark elves. This probably saved a minute or two and did the trick.
