This is not a tricky game to deploy. Clean your system, open up free space, and defrag. Uninstall pirated games.
It's very improbable, but technically possible, that one or more of your hardware components is or are succumbing to old age, going bad—failing—but, I wouldn't look there for the solution. I'm assuming that your hardware is healthy, fully updated, and meets minimum specifications.
That leaves your operating system and the other applications installed therein. Do you have a large contiguous (consolidated) chunk of free space for VRAM? File integrity and efficiency degrades significantly (fragments) over time and with use in Windows platforms, unlike the Unix-based Linux distros (Ubuntu does not fragment, and so NEVER has to be degraaged). Not only can individual Windows files fragment, but free space itself becomes fragmented. This occurs when a file is edited. Windows does not move the entire edited file to a new location so that the file remains "physically" intact (as Ubuntu does). Every time the file is edited, the changed portion of the file is moved to the nearest sufficiently large space. Every time a file is deleted, it creates a new "empty" space, and it becomes free space, which soon gets overwritten when another file is either created or saved. Long story short: Defrag your hard drive and consolidate your free space. Not all defraggers can consolidate free space without benefit of specific command line parameters. If you don't have Raxco PerfectDisk, you can google the parameters needed to get Defrag.exe to consolidate free space.
But, that's only ONE possible cause / solution. Fragmentation may not be the issue. Other software may be interfering with the game's operation, some of which could be adversely impacted by malware of one sort or another. Something could be hogging RAM or processing requests. There's no telling what might be doing it.
I can't remember if you have verified the game cache or not. The game file(s) could have become corrupted.
Something else you might try, a last resort: Uninstall and reinstall Steam if uninstalling and reinstalling just the game doesn't work. It's a pain in the keister and can take a while, but it just might do the trick.
Good luck!
I am extremely fluent in Spanish. I read and write it with a far greater proficiency than I comprehend the spoken words, but I can make myself accurately understood when I speak—but, that's no help at all with German. Because of the proficiency I enjoy with Spanish, I can comprehend almost 75% of what Italian speakers say—but, again, little help with German.
What really gets me about American trolls is this: They get really nasty and mean, bellicose and truculent, when non-native-English speakers make understandable grammar and syntax errors…but they can't speak their OWN language competently! One CANNOT learn another language well unless one FIRST learns one's own. Duh! Mensch, der dumbkopfen!
I am having this same issue, I like this game but I can't pass the first mission without gettinga fatal error, i might have to return this game =( I tried
LowLevelFatallError
D;/Svns/styx2/UE4/Engine/source/Runtime/Core/Private/GenericPlatform/GenericlPlatformMemory.cpp {linw:147}
Ran out of memory allocating 2723612624 byteswith alignment 0
what should i do.
If you are using MSI Afterburner or EVGA Precision along with RivaTuner Statistics Server, disable them. You can also add an exception for the Styx2-Win64-Shipping.exe executable in the profiles in RTSS and set the detection level to 'None'.
I was getting a fatal error and doing this fixed the issue. It appears that Afterburner and Precision along with RTSS do not play nice with the game's engine.
