Also, the developpement in which their publisher no longer offers russian subtitles (accordingly to the steamspy russia was number 2 on the list of "styx: mos" copies sold) nor does the implementation of chinese subtitles, is really worrying me, cuz these are clear opportunities missed, meaning their games must sell exceptionally well in usa and europe for them to keep going in the long term (no i'm not russian nor chinese btw).
And let's not even mention the fact focus home interactive was involved in a few "less successfull" games releases lately (like technomancer or deathwing space hulk).
All in all, i'd be quite happy for ANY further styx or it's universe related games releases in the future before any of the involved companies dissolve or, god forbid, get integrated into ubisoft (or ea) which will then make your yearly dumbed down styx game à la assassinsgreed.
Even if the franchise is supposed to end there, there would still be room to try an Arkail prequel. But, I'm not sure if Arkail is charismatic enough to carry a game by himself. His kind of character really needs someone to play off of, so he'd need a good supporting cast to have his own game/s.
I never played God of War so I can't help you there. My point is, Arkail's character type is what people call a "straight man." He's generally not the one getting the audience to laugh, but instead is the more serious character that a funnier/livelier/more wisecracking character plays off of. He's also a somewhat more traditional character type in modern fantasy fiction - the devs weren't really breaking new ground writing honorable orcs in the same way they were with Styx's character. Honorable orcs are not uncommon these days.
When you have Arkail, the comedy straight man and somewhat familiar honorable orc type, next to Styx, the wisecracking character who turns out to have a lot of creative depth to him and his story, they both work really well together. They play off of one another.
But when you just have Arkail by himself, if you don't give him a good strong supporting cast to replace Styx, you lose that dynamic and are left with a serious-minded honorable orc wandering around punching things. And that's kinda flat. A comedy straight man without comedy around him to react to/constrast with can't really make the magic happen. (A comedian, meanwhile, can often remain entertaining without a straight man. Styx had some funny moments in Master of Shadows doing nothing more than talking to himself.)
So, like I said: "he'd need a good supporting cast to have his own game/s." This isn't bashing Arkail. I love Arkail. But his character type needs some extra help to keep a solo story from being flat.
It did somehow make more sense to have this 2 different characters.
"Was my game experience"
While the game started with the strong orc and his power, you realized its better to have someone like the goblin, to scout out first the location and take some guards down and call for orc only if necessary. I pretty liked to command both of them.
Of Orcs and Men 2 ,Sound after 2 Styx games like a more logical step.
