But no, I don't want to see females as it would be discordant with the lore and with Styx' ambition... He's isn't looking for love, procreation or anything and never was!
*Styx: Master of Shadows SPOILER and recap*
Styx was an orc who decided to go see the amber tree at the age of 30, he leaves to go study the magical substance.
(side note: Amber gives magical powers to elves, Humans desperately wants the same powers except to humans, it does nothing so they just use it to get "drunk" but by using the addicting substance too much, might die)
The tree curses Styx and transform him as a little weak creature and for about 300years he seeks to return to the amber tree to turn back into a powerful orc by stealing the heart of the tree and studying it.
=>You can place somewhere in those 300 years the events of "Of Orcs and Men"
Goblins do not exist in this world, Styx is the only creature who transformed into this little green being because of the curse of the tree. (so goblins are green because orcs are green)
So Styx is called a goblin actually by mistake because Goblins, in this world, are a legend, a tale to scare little kids, superstition of little shadowy creatures doing evil deeds and you can sometimes catch a glimpse of 'em.
After so many years, comes to the conclusion the heart of the tree is what will make him an Orc once again so he sets for the Tower of Akenash, city of men, built around the amber tree to control it. Humans enslave elves to gather amber as it could be fatal to them.
Styx gets captured by men on his way to the heart but he placed one of his clone , Rakash, on the outskirt of the city as an insurance and manipulate his mind to come set him free.
That's who we play during the entire first game, Rakash who actually think he is the real Styx but has lost all his memory, not because of an accident but because Styx never bothered to implant any kind of memory in his clones.
Alongway, we do discover what happened when we free Styx from his cell and he tries to kill Rakash.
Failed attempt, he comes back and tries to confront him but discover as a clone, he's just too weak to get his revenge just yet... By chance, he meets a dark elf who offers him help and tells him he can be a real being, not just a magical clone by undergoing a rebirth in an amber tree cocoon in exchange for killing Styx who's just a plague who might destroy the world by stealing the heart of the tree.
He eventually succeeds to undergo his rebirth and finally reaching the tree itself where Styx is, Rakash grabs the heart of the tree before Styx does and decide to destroy the heart as a sign he can go against the will of his old master.
Styx then runs on Rakash to kill him but he wants to decide of his own death so he just let himself fall off the tree. (Rakash knew he was still to weak to kill Styx)
At the base of the tree is a huge pool of amber in which Rakash fall, unexpected result, the effect of falling into the amber pool creates hundreds if not thousands of clones who all rush on Styx and kill him.
Rakash then succeed to get off of the pool and realize he lost all his memory (once more) he forgot everything except one thing, a name... Styx!
Not remembering anything, not even his name, decide that Styx must probably be his name, and so his life really starts.
In the end, he is the "creator" of sort of the goblin race who all look exactly like him 'cause they're all clones.

With this recap of the lore of the game, it is virtually impossible to play another character than Styx/Rakash.
Goblins are all males and all look the same!
IMHO Styx isn't ugly, he looks really awesome.
And I saw the answer about renaming it "Stax" aside from also being a troll, Styx is a name with a meaning... It's a long river leading to the center of the death realm with magical properties (the one who drinks it can become immortal)
=>Hence the lore, we are an assassin leading ppl to the death realm like the river does and Styx is immortal of sort as he is now an entire race, all look the same, numbers unknown, and no matter what happens to the original, Styx will always be there even if a different goblin, it will always be him.
I would add, changing one letter for a female character is the dumbest idea ever!

If you don't like goblins, orcs and such... don't play games involving them then complain there are orcs and goblins in the game and you don't like it! -_-
You don't like heroic-fantasy universe, stay away from them.
It would like playing Warcraft and saying you don't like orcs and they should remove them...
Or removing the orcs from Orcs must die...
Seriously, why even look at the game and worse, go on the forum of that game and say stuff like that? Especially when there are now 3 games about the lore of this universe!

Still, expressing your opinion on a forum about that precise game is clearly not a good idea!
Did you go complain about Warhammer 40k on the Warhammer 40k forum? I don't think so!
There's already a huge fanbase behind the first title so it would be stupid to change it, you know?
Some devs work on what they like... probably the case here since the world of "of orcs and men" is so damn good.... Doesn't happen that frequently though.

Some devs don't ! There's a market, there are shares and a huge business models behind the games you enjoy... There's a reason why there's already 50 battlefield and Call of Duty... Lots of ppl working on those titles don't like it!
Might seems like it's all fun and play but when there's money on the table, it's not!
So, please, don't say stuff like that anymore!
