Can't go to the bathroom

Having trouble getting the rasp, I looked up a walkthrough and apparently when we bought the pecan candies we were supposed to get a bathroom key, or something along those lines? Now we're later in the game and we already gave the candies to Doug, so how do we get the rasp?
