Steam Link now available on macOS

i have a new MacBook Air m2, linked the steam game pad via bluetooth but steam link
not found or use it. apples bt menu show an icon as mouse and the name is SteamController.
it means I can not use steam link :( I need a gamepad input and I like to use my steam controller.

I'm having problems with the streaming window not starting fullscreen. The Link app itself starts in fullscreen, but when I start the stream, I get a windowed version of my remote computer (a PC running the same resolution). Because it is in a window (with the green, red and yellow dots) there is less space for the streamed video itself, It's cropping the video, resulting in a little bit of black on both sides. This 'windowserver' has the option to go fullscreen by hitting the green dot like any other mac app, but it's hard to use it (and really annoying) because the mouse is stuck inside the window. I need to command-tab out of it, then click the green dot to go fullscreen, and after that all is fine.

Are other people also experiencing this? And did you find an easy way to fix this?

I can't seem to find a solution for this. I've tried keyboard shortcuts that shpuld make mac apps go fullscreen, but it doesnt seem to work. I can't figure out if that's because the keyboard commands are sent to the remote computer, or because this 'windowserver'-app simply doesn't support the shortcut.

edit (27-10-2022): after the latest update fullscreen seems to work as expected!

I found that holding esc key on the keyboard long enough will release the mouse capture and then I can click the green dot to go fullscreen. Annoying it doesn't do it automatically though. Also when I have the debug HUD up I can see its not using HEVC even though it is decoding in hardware via video toolbox :-(

Literally does not work on a Mac in 2024, Monterey 12.7.6. I try to stream from my PC, it launches the Link but after 5 seconds or so it just crashes (with a red flash then into black, and then total app crash).
No idea what's wrong, tried to Turn On and Off all sorts of combinations of Hardware Encoding/Decoding etc – nothing.
On iPad I've managed to make it work, on Mac – no luck.

Surprisingly, direct Stream from Steam App works on the Mac, so it's completely ridiculous, that this - basically a separate VNC app with presumably similar underlying code just refuses to work.

Please, somebody at Valve, start paying more attention to Macs! They're very powerful nowadays, but Steam is just not optimised for them at all.

this latest update is crashing every time on my M1 macbook. Please fix ASAP Valve. App Store has lots of comments from people reporting the same.
