I have in fact my Rpi set up with multi-boot (Lakka, LibreElec and Raspbian), but the thing was about having all gaming stuff in one platform and that I can't get my PS3 controller to work wirelessly with Steam Link on Raspbian, whereas in Lakka it pairs and works perfectly.

rolling back to an earlier version may work until valve gets a fix out.

FYI, the controller changes in the newer Steam Link app don't affect PS3 controllers.

looks like retropie was also built off retroarch, maybe that could guide you? the app is intended for raspbian stretch or buster, but retropie and osmc have been making custom launchers for it. you should probably post in the lakka forums and see if anyone there is working on it or has figured a way to do it.

also, I know some have set up their pi for dual-boot so they can have the steam link app as well as their preferred emulator or media center. might be an easier solution.

That link refers to installing Steam itself to natively install PC games, which of course wont work with a Pi. We are just talking about installing the SteamLink app. Very different.
