On screen joystick greyed out

Hi guys
I'm trying to set up the steam link Android app controls, but the joysticks are greyed out and don't know why. Nokia 6.1 running Android 8.1. any ideas for solutions? Thanks!

This is when I try to configure controls on screen- I can't drag the joysticks.

This means they aren't bound to any actions in your game. Try going to the Big Picture controller configuration UI and setting up some bindings.

Did you find a solution for this?? I have the same issue. Left joystick is greyed out and I can not added it.
