I took a quick stab at building Kodi in the examples/kodi branch. It doesn't link yet, but it has a bunch of the dependencies set up and needed tweaks for the build scripts.

Feel free to play around and submit pull requests!

Is this project dead? Any chance of having a working and up-to-date Kodi's release?

Good timing :) Sorry for the long time with no updates, I had apartment issues for two months and my Steam Link was in storage. Good news, I just uploaded my first v18 test release!

I had to rewrite the SDL platform code from scratch, because the windowing architecture completely changed in v18. As a result, the Steam Controller was broken until now. Yesterday I found some dropped code, restored it, now the controller works!

Unfortunately, the video architecture changed too, so I have some work to do before HD video is accelerated again.

Also broken is keyboard/mouse input, as this changed entirely for v18 too.

Also unfortunate, is that emulators (added in Kodi v18) aren't working yet. Once I fix this, Kodi will be a full (slower) replacement for RetroArch.

Well, thanks for this update but it doesn't look like something I would install, at least at this point.

Are you the only one working on Kodi for SteamLink?
They are releasing new stuff so fast that I believe it's not so easy to keep up with the changes, is it? Shouldn't "we" focus on some stable branch and make it work 100%, maybe?

Using the latest stable release, im still getting my date and time set as 1970. Ive tried the startup script from earlier in the thread and it worked once, no rhyme or reason it just did - but only once. Any ideas on whats going on or how to fix it? Ive opened up udp port 123 on the off chance my router was being iffy and still no go.

Go to wifi extended settings
Set DNS servers to 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4
Set time server as time.google.com
Save and reboot

INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS

Copy archive to the folder steamlink/apps/ on a USB drive (FAT32 or EXT4).
Insert the drive into the Steam Link and power-cycle. It will take approximately 2 minutes to install the 80MB archive.
When the Steam Link boots, Kodi should appear on the home screen.

Well, very good job !!! but...

I just installed Kodi Leia v18.0 for Steam Link.

I have some problems :
- addon update issues (update failed),
- unable to browse the UPNP server on my NAS,
- connecting thru SMB share : I will search more, but if it sees my network, I could not say wich login/password to use...

My Steam Link datetime are ok, checked in SSH console (is there anywhere else to check it ?).
May it be some missing work folder problem (a "temp" or "download" one I saw missing on some forum for other distributions) ? what else ?

Hi all. I just have installed Kodi 18. (latest release). I'm trying to install Netflix addon on Kodi for Steam Link, but it says me "Installation from zip failed". I can't install any addon from zip, can't update addons (it says "update failed"), and, for last, i can't change the interface language. I can choose it, but it says "installation failed". I need help, please. Thanks.

Kodi can not somehow connect to the Internet, he can download anything in any case. What could be the problem? I use the LAN connection and no wireless cable.
