Xbox 360 wireless controller input lag
I am using a 360 wireless dongle which is supported and the Link finds it just fine and the controller works but there is about half a second input lag when you play. The results in about 90% of all games becomes unplayable. I have a high-end computer and fast 100Mbit fiber connection and the Link is connected by wire and the network connection shows as maximum so the network is not the issue.
I have updated all PC drivers and firmware and got the latest Link software version.

A solution for this very annoying issue would be awesome since right now all the Link does is collecting dust.

Some of the reviews of the Link stated that the wireless 360 controller had latency issues, I assume it's the drivers that are baked in the kernel of the Link as a wired 360 pad has no lag.

Ok thanks for the info. But if it's the drivers then there should be no problem fixing this with a software update

Any updates on this issue? Are you still experiencing this issue, Comodin?

Yes I am, last time I tried was a week ago. I have barely used my Link because of this issue so for me it was a waste of money. Are you experiencing this too?

Yes, I am. I was struggeling with video lags first, probably because of my powerline setup. Just yesterday I retried my setup after having replaced the powerline connection with direct ethernet connection to the router, which solved the video issue.
Now I'm left with issues that I cannot play Rocket League, because my input is delayed for about half a second.

Since the streaming of Rocket League to my living room was the main reason to get the link in the first place, it is just like you described - useless since the first day it arrived.

I use a wireless XBox controller all the time with no lag. Are you experiencing lag in the local UI as well?

Seems like we are having the exact same problem. I am using a powerline setup(Dlink) too but connected by wire from the powerline to the Link. Maybe there are some settings in the powerline config that could help this issue? Rocket League is my main reason too but it is unplayable.

Not sure whether I'm getting your question correctly - in case I do not stream but play locally on my PC with the wireless Xbox controller attached, there is no lag.

My setup was router -> powerline in -> powerline out -> Steam Link / Host PC - all wired, but the Steam Link UI showed a "slow network" warning (using a AVM 520 powerline adapter).
Yesterday I changed that setup so that the Steam Link and the Host PC were connected directly via Ethernet to the router.
With the old setup the stream was unusable, with the new setup the UI and Rocket League were streamed well. I read about a newer generation of powerline adapters in another topic here, so maybe this could be a solution for me (the buzzword here is the support of "Homeplug AV2").

I missunderstood the question sorry, if I play locally on my PC without streaming then there is no lag at all using my xbox360 wireless controller.
I am using the same setup "router -> powerline in -> powerline out -> Steam Link / Host PC - all wired".
I just updated the firmware on my Homeplug and tried streaming using the Link and I am at a solid 60FPS without any graphics or sound lag but the controller input lag is still there and it is very noticable when playing Rocket League.

I also experienced input lag, but this was because my TV wasn't set up properly.
I had to (LG TV) change the label of the HDMI port to "PC", and it completely vanished.
This apparently turns off post-processing on the image which slows down the image compared to the fast input sent to your PC.
I'd double check this setting for your TV brand.
A setting called "Game" might also help. But on my TV this didn't seem to do much compared to the "PC" HMDI label.

@slouken: this is something that should be added to the Steam Link store/support page.

Good point - will verify that.

THANK YOU!!! I changed the HDMI port label to "PC" and the controller lag is gone!
Now I can finally enjoy my Link thanks to you =) This should definately be added to the Steam Link support page because a lot of people have this issue

What kind of TV do you have?
Humpfldump Feb 11, 2016 @ 12:07am
I just checked the gaming mode on my TV and it really decreases the lag. Unfortunately the only port labled "PC" on my TV is a D-Sub one, maybe I would be able to try this port with the help of an active HDMI-to-VGA-adapter, at least when I want to use the audio from the HDMI signal as well.

Thanks again @blehz for pointing that out!
