Steam Link

Steam Link

Steam Link doesnt support 2 different controllers
Yes u can use xbox 360 and more controller for steam link, but it seems u cant use 2 controller for 2 players at the same time for local coop play.
I connected a steam controller and 360 wireless controller. I can use both at the same time for "player1" but no one for "player2". If this isnt a bug, steam link ruins himself. I am very disapointed, cause i bought it for local play also.

As I'm lead to believe, this will be something Valve will fix before general retail release on 10.11.2015.

We will be fixing this issue with a future software update, likely this week.

I've been able to use two PS4 controllers and the Steam Link to play 3 player Gauntlet in local co-op. But I had problems with Monaco and when trying to bind controls to an emulator I had installed, but running in big picture mode.

Would just like to add that Battle Block Theater worked with local COOP with a Steam controller and a wired 360 controller, so I have a feeling it's certain games having an issue with specific controller order since the 360 thought it was controller one.

Glad to hear a fix is on the way for maximum compatibility though since the Link is awesome for couch coop games.

Played with 4 people local co-op on Spelunky earlier this week. Steam controller, Wii U Pro controller (wireless, set to Xinput), XBox 360 (wired), and a generic Gamestop-brand XBox 360 (wired). Some of the controllers were plugged into PC, some into Steam Link. Everything worked fine.

Good for u. It seems there are problems with the wireless 360 gamepad. If i play mad max, the right analog stick is broken, the camera angle turns round and round and round in very fast way, not playable. If i use the wired 360 controller, it works fine.

Also there is no problem at local coop with wired and wireless 360 at the same time. Tested it at lovers in a dangerous space time. But Steam Controller and wireless 360 doesnt work.

I'm going to be testing this tonight with Divinity: Original Sin Enhanced Edition now that they added split-screen co-op and controller support. Will be trying with two DualShock 4s, but would ideally like it to work with 1 xbox 360 controller (so buttons match up to screen prompts) and 1 DS4. Anything in particular you need to pay attention to when mixing different controllers?

Just a follow up, wired Xbox 360 controller + wired DS4 work great together in Divinity: Original Sin local co-op. Couldn't get Bluetooth to work for the DS4, but that's alright (hopefully in the future?).

just want to say , that after patch for steam and firmware update for the controller, the problem still is there. Nothing has fixed. I still cant use steam Controller and wireless 360 at the same time for local coop play. Also the right analog stick doesnt work at game like mad max. I tested mad max without link at my pc and the 360 wireless controller works fine.

As i preordered link + controller, i ddint know that i would participate in a beta best.

I just bought this welcome to 2017, and I can't get my two controllers to play a local game. It is seeing both as one controller...HELP.

  1. What game are you playing?
  2. What controllers are you using?
  3. Are both controllers plugged into the Steam Link?
  4. Do you have third party controller support turned on in the Big Picture controller settings on the remote computer?

can anyone confirm this issue was fixed?

I have the same issue, bought the steam link and multiple couch coop games to enjoy with friends when having a party over, now we can't get coop to work properly. We decided to start with "battle blocks theatre" with two xbox one controllers plugged into the steamlink, but the damned thing wants to play both controllers as player one, neither connects to player two!! waste :(

Having this problem too. I don't know why valve would release something so buggy. It's even before getting into a game for me. The face buttons on the second 360 controller work, and that's it. You can use it to click on and launch a game, or do anything the face buttons allow. You cannot move or navigate menus, in game or in steam / big picture mode.

The controllers work fine in the computer. I can actually plug one into the computer and one into the steam link and they seem to work as well. However, we'd have to be on separate floors to play, then. I'm honestly not sure why I own this thing at this point.
