Steam Link

Can't stream non steam games?
Every steam game that I have tried is working fine. But I am trying to launch some of my non steam games from origin such as DA:I or the Witcher 3 from gog galaxy. Every time I launch the game from my library, I encounter problems. Sometimes I will hear the game through the TV with steam link connected but the screen stays on big picture mode and freezes. Other times the non steam game will load up but as soon as I move the mouse, it minimizes back to big picture mode. In both instances, the game is running on my desktop fine. I am getting this issue with game pad, kb/m, and steam controller.

"C:\GOG Games\The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt\bin\x64\witcher3.exe" is what i use and it works perfect. Some games require you to pick a different .exe file. Also make sure Steam>Settings> and participate in the steam beta. I get various updates and each time more and more games work. Witcher 3 i can even use my steam controller i just pick the gamepad template and it works pretty well i still have to fine tune some things but it works

Non-steam games are a pain in the ass to be honest; but they can be made to work.

Did this and it launches on my new desktop fine but still just a black screen via steam link. I am signed up for the beta client as well as using different executables.

I have exactly the same problem as Fr0dO_T_b4gGiNz. Is there already a solution for this problem? I would like to play my Origin games also :-(

I haven't found a solution yet. I still cannot play non steam games such as origin or GOG games.

Adding a shortcut to a non-Steam game
Launch Steam.
Click the Games menu, choose Add a Non-Steam Game to My Library.
Browse for games on your computer or put a check next to the game(s) you wish to add to the Library.
Click Add Selected Programs

Another Solution is:

Add Origin (Origin.exe) as a non Steam Game, Start it from Big Picture mode, and then start your game from the now opening Origin Window. Works like a Charm ;-)

Also, I had to set the following things:
1. Origin - Application Settings - Origin In Game > UNCHECK Enable Origin In Game
2. Origin - Application Settings - Advanced > CHECK Automatic Exit.

the second step, I had to do, because the second game start is always failed. now Origin now starts every time new, and that works great.:steamhappy:

It's not my Solution, it is from 14k, and here is the link:

I dont know if this will work for GoG and Uplay, because i mostly use Steam and then Origin for a few Games which are not sold at Steam.

This was the first thing I tried. Any Non-Steam game just launches to a black screen. They run on my desktop, but they do not stream via the steam link.

I tried running Origin itself as a game as well and no cigar. It does not stream the origin UI.

That what you get for paying 60 bucks... a piece of crap that doesnt work... only the fan boys will cry "its a steam link, stream steam games"... thats ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥... there are a lot of (cheaper) streaming alternatives that stream EVERYTHING you do on your computer, so steam link is just a piece of crap and a waste of money.

Steam knowing, they wont fix this any time soon, cause they only care about them selfs. Hope they will patch it but... dont count on it unfortunately.

Can you please post a link to GameOverlayRenderer.log from the Steam directory after trying to stream a game that shows a black screen? Some games prevent us from doing video capture and sending controller input. Make sure the game doesn't run as Administrator. Also switching the game to borderless windowed mode can help in these cases.
