Steam link not sending sound to TV...
When I try to use the Steam Link the audio comes from my computer (thats in the other room) instead of coming from my TV. I have fiddled around with audio settings and such but just cant seem to make it work.

I have sound when the Link starts up but once I get into big picture the sound only comes from the PC.

Help please.

I'm having the same exact issue I'm not quite sure what's causing it. Everything else works great.

Yeah everything is working fine other than this. Hopefully this will be a priority to patch and we will see it soon.

Yep. I'm having the same trouble as well. Going to do a bit of testing right now to see if I can figure something out at least :p

Not sure if anyone else is using a soundcard, but when I changed the default playback device to SPDIF pass-through, it worked:

right click the sound icon on the bottom right of your windows taskbar and select playback devices. right click your digital output device and select set as default device.

Well, this helped me out. Figured out the issue I was having.
So what I use is a workaround to avoid weird sound level drops with my G430 headset. So I got motherboard soundcard as default device > Stereo Mix set to listen to the headset (basically send the sound to the headset) > Get sound in mah ears.
If I set it back to use just the headset directly, the sound works on the TV. Not ideal but it works. Just some extra work on my end.

So this worked 100%. Thanks for posting that here. I approve of the Steam Link, money well spent. I was not anticipating the desktop stream as well.

Thanks ever so much. This sorted it out for me and saved me some more hair. :mcpixel:
I have this problem and none of these solutions appear to help. The same HDMI slot appears to work for my PS4 though. I've had the steam link for several weeks now and haven't been able to play it because of the sound problem.

This happens to me almost every other time over wifi sending a lan wake up signal. Selecting "stop streaming" and re-establishing the connection always fixes the issue for me.

That doesn't seem to work for me. However, out of nowhere, it just started working for a few weeks. Now it isn't again. Hmmm.

What worked for me was on the Steam Link main menu - sound settings changed from auto -> Stereo!!! finally

I take it back. It worked for exactly one episode of Game of Thrones. After it finished, I started the next one and the sound icon in the task bar went back to having an "x."

WTF WTF WTF?
