set steam desktop client to match res as client, will fix the odd res/scaling issue
but i dont think it will disable hdr

*if the link clinet res is unsupported by host, add it using gpu control panel and enable gpu scaling as centered/stretch for non native res

How do I send my log files? I have logs for 883 and 887. Issues with black screen and cuts still happen on 887 but less frequent. Thanks for still maintaining steam link.

post them on pastebin and give links here

Some feedback, was on 883 beta build, got updated to 887.

Decoding time suffered greatly - normally around 20-25ms, 887 was hovering around 150ms for extended periods of time. Sometimes it would come back down to normal, but kept spiking back up. Went back to public build (883), decoding time was back to normal.

Can you send Steam logs\streaming_log.txt from a session with build 883 and another log with build 887, so we can see what's going on?

Thanks!

First, thanks for keeping this very useful device updated.

Second, I use a Logitech PlayStation 3 Cordless MediaBoard Pro, and on the current beta (and at least the next-most-recent beta) keyboard /mouse input regularly disconnects (especially if there's any idle time) and generally won't reconnect. If one disconnects from the host computer using controller input, the mouse/keyboard is immediately available in the Steam Link menus, even if it was disconnected while streaming immediately before.

Also, I haven't noticed a total Steam Link crash since the latest beta update, but they were frequent with the previous beta.

What's the USB VID/PID of this deivce?

here is my 883 log - https://drive.google.com/file/d/1m4Dv1RTBdXbukBGriPpbUWOwd6HnhjCX/view?usp=drive_link
(the display graph was not appearing so I reconnected a few times, ended up having to power cycle the steam link for it to come back)

Here is my 887 log - https://drive.google.com/file/d/1oHJXz1Sa4T0wfyhMaopOO5LOgQPhKQMj/view?usp=drive_link

Display latency on 883 is around 25-30ms, on 887, 35-40ms. More frame drops on 887 too I think, feels like I shouldn't be having any frame drops though?

I seem to be getting another issue now too, on both 883 and 887, my Xbox Series X controller seems to disconnect and takes a few second to reconnect. At the same time, the display latency increases from between 25-30ms to above 60ms. The controller is connected via the USB dongle plugged into the steam link, using the USB extension cable that came with the controller. EDIT - updated the controller firmware, seemed to fix the controller dropping out issue

The Logitech mediaboard pro is a bluetooth device, not USB. I'm not immediately seeing a way to get VID/\PID iinfo from the Steamlink interface, and the debug log doesn't seem to include that information.

Have steam link updates changed how input mapping your controller works?
In the Steam link main menu I can't skip binding paddles my controller doesn't have so I can only cancel once I get to that point. Then in big picture mode I can't open the input mapper at all when the controller is plugged in to the steam link, I click the button from my computer or with mouse mode on controller and nothing happens at all.
Is there any workaround I can use to rebind the controller while it's connected to the steam link?

use a k/m to help bind mappings on the link and in steam desktop client

I've used kbm to click the configuration button, it only opens when the controller is plugged into PC doesn't work when it's plugged in to steam link and the changes in PC don't follow to the link

on the host pc, every controller can have its own mappings
when streaming from link, its seen as a different controller

map it on the link correctly first, using usb k/m in the link menu before connecting to the host pc
once that is correct, map it in steam after connecting to the host pc
name each controller to something easily identifiable, ex. pc xbone white, or tv ds4 black
then it make it easy to know which controller you are mapping
The controller can't be mapped correctly from the link menu. During the mapping process after the menu button is mapped, there is extra button binding which I press A to skip, then it needs bindings for back paddles that do not exist, so theres nothing I can bind them to, and for some reason these cannot be skipped. My only option at that point is to start over mapping or cancel, neither of which save the inputs mapped before the phantom paddles require a binding.
In steam the button to rebind the buttons does not open the configurator at all
My issue is not that I can't find or press the button, it literally just doesn't do anything when I do.
Have you guys gave up doing updates on the actual Steam Link hardware that you guys were selling?
_I_ Jun 26, 2024 @ 1:54am
the link hardware has been discontinued for over 5 years (nov 2018)
its latest update was from june of this year 2024
