Hello,

I am using the Steam Link (hardware version).
Now I can't shut down the hardware anymore.

I also tried doing this from Big Picture (shutdown Steam Link), same result.

Other people have the same problem:

I am using Steam Link build 827 with a Steam Controller.

I can confirm this happens on my Steam Link hardware also. It seems to be intermittent or it was fixed and then broken again.

Yeah I confirm. Impossible to make it go to sleep\shut it down. It doesn't even shut down automatically after some time because it's bugged. The confirmation windows appears but it's impossible to confirm the sleep mode (A in controller). Nothing happens. It's always on.

check any usb devices plugged into or paired with the link

a controller with stick drift will keep it awake, or any k/m activity

It does not come from hardware.
I am 100% sure of it.

The sleep mode does not work and the shutdown does not work anymore.

When no controller is plugged in, Steam Link displays a controller standby screen[www.howtogeek.com] without ever going to sleep.

I can confirm it's not hardware dependent. Even with nothing linked it is impossible to make it shut down.

the link doesnt really shut down, it goes to sleep, turning off wireless controllers and displays (xbone controllers will disconnect and flash for about 1 minute)
usb devices will remain active and able to wake the link
bt devices can wake the link again (xbone after 1 minute from turning the link off)

Hello everybody,

After noticing that the Steam Link had remained on for several hours after my use, that it had not gone to sleep and that it was not possible to stop it by the normal procedure, I unplugged the power cable.

This seems to solve the problem. Sleep mode and shutdown are operational again.

The problem may not be with the update itself, but with the update process.

Hi, ever since the build 827 update, I can't play with my DS4 through the official sony usb dongle. Before the update everything was working fine, but now I have the "bad connection" icon at the bottom right popping up every few seconds and a massive lag spike with it.

The problem is everywhere. While streaming steam games, non-steam games and during video streaming.

I tried my second steam link, same issue.
I tried my second sony DS4 dongle, same issue.

As soon as I unplug the usb dongle everything comes back to normal.

It is very anoying as my DS4 are my main controllers and I am too far away to use a cable. Is there any way I can revert to previous version? If not plz fix soon, as this update officially rendered my living room Gaming/Streaming totally inexistent.

Thank you

you do not need the dongle for a ds4

use a k/m or other controller, go to the links bt menu
hold share+ps on the ds4, and pair using the links menu

Unpluggin power cable fixed it for me too. :csgoa:

UPDATE: not definitive fix, see next post.

the only way to truly fresh boot the hardware link has always been to unplug power for a few seconds and plug it back in, the flaw in systems that only go to sleep mode and never actually power off.

OMG thank you!!

Connecting directly through BT fixed everything. I had so many problems with my PC and direct BT connection in the past that I had to use these dongle, so I never dared to try it without them on the steamlink.

It works flawlessly, thank you again.

And I had the power off problem too but since I unplugged the SteamLink to try and fix my other problem it just disappeared on its own.

I must correct myself. The bug come back after sometimes after having unplugging the cord and you have to unplug again.

You are right, the bug has returned!
We should try a factory reset... :(
