Xbox One S controller not working.
I'm having issues using a XBox one S controller on my steam link. I get it connected but the X button keeps flashing and I can't use it at all. What exactly am I doing wrong?

I've been waiting for them to fix the button mappings before switching to beta so I'll try and switch tonight and let you know if it works for me.

You need to make sure the controller firmware gets updated to 3.1.1215. There have been reports that the Xbox Accessories App for Win 10 doesn't actually update to 3.1.1215 and you have to use an Xbox One to get the correct controller firmware. The Xbox Accessories App thinks firmware 3.1.1209 is up to date and that doesn't work with the Steam Link.

Unplug power from the Steam Link and let it boot
Go to the Bluetooth settings screen
Press + hold the ")))" sync button on the top of the controller near the Usb connector
Press the Xbox button on the controller to turn it on. The light should be blinking quickly if you did it right. You can let go of the buttons on the controller at that point.
Wait for it to show up in the list of Bluetooth devices on the Steam Link
Connect to it.

If you don't have any other controllers connected to your Steam Link, you should be able to get it work from the Start up screen where it is displaying the "Connect Controller" screen.

So there is no other way to retrieve the firmware update unless you plug it into a Xbox ONe? Sheesh, Microsoft.

I don't have this controller but it is fixed according to steam link update logs. A lot of people also said it is fixed and they can use their controllers.

Yes, sorry to not come back to this discussion sooner. But after the last steam link update and the Firmware update for the controller, everything is Working as intended.

Jonoarf- can I ask which firmware you're using for both? I have the 3.1.1214 on my xbox one controller (which the Xbox accessories app says is the latest), and tried connecting the controller to my steam link on both the 566 SL firmware and the latest beta (581), but I get the same issue as your original post: Xbox controller shows as connected but keeps blinking ....
Thanks

You need firmware version 3.1.1221, and the Windows 10 anniversary edition to get it, if you don't have an XBox One.
