Vibration Xbox One Bluetooth Controller?
I just got my custom Xbox One S controller from Microsoft's Design Labs website yesterday. This is the new model that has Bluetooth built in. I updated the controller's firmware and got it paired to the Steam Link easily enough. I tested it out with Rocket League and The Binding of Isaac Rebirth last night and it worked great with both games. Finally I can use an Xbox One controller wirelessly with my Steam Link and I can finally turn the Link on and off without getting up to plug in a USB cable!

The only complaint I have is that the Xbox One controller's vibration doesn't work when connected to the Steam Link via Bluetooth. My old Xbox One controller's vibration worked normally when connected via USB. I also tested this new, Bluetooth Xbox One controller with a USB cable and the Vibration worked that way too so it's not a defective controller. It just doesn't work when connected to the Steam Link with Bluetooth.

I never thought I actually cared about controller vibration until I played Rocket League without it last night. I like to listen to music when I play Rocket League since there aren't really any important sounds to pay attention to in the game.

Without the feedback of vibration I thought my B button wasn't working properly on the new controller to activate my rocket boost because I couldn't feel it and I didn't hear the sound effects over my music. It took me a few seconds to realize that it was just the vibration not working. I got used to it after a while but I really hope Steam is able to get vibration working on the Xbox One controllers connected by Bluetooth.

This is the driver used by stemalink: https://github.com/paroj/xpad/issues
You are free to help them add the rumble support with bluetooth.

Microsoft confirmed that the XBox One S controller doesn't currently support rumble over Bluetooth.

That is a bummer. Thanks for looking into this anyways. I'm very happy with the way the new controller works with my Steam Link. Vibration is the only thing missing for me and it's something I'm willing to give up in order to be able to use the controller wirelessly.

I just got an Xbox One S controller and vibration works over bluetooth, although when it is connected directly to the PC's bluetooth

no vibration when connected through steam Link

Unfortunately my PC's motherboard doesn't have bluetooth built in. I've noticed that most pre-built PCs do but none of the motherboards I have ever put into PCs I build supported it. I think my PC is probably still in Bluetooth range even though its not in the same room. Maybe I'll have to buy a Bluetooth dongle and see if I can get it working.

When connected to a PC over bluetooth (not the wireless dongle), what game(s) does the rumble work with?

I know this post is a bit old, but is there any progress on getting rumble to work? It works fine with bluetooth to my PC but not through Steam Link.

It was added to beta branch several weeks ago! Just switch to Beta in System settings of the Link.

I did not connect to Steam Link beta but yesterday I was playing "Brothers - A Tale of Two Sons" with my Xbox controller connected to Steam Link and suddenly it started to rumble. So it looks like it is solved!
