Steam Link

Steam Link

Steam Link ANYWHERE - PC *TO* PC?
Is there any way to "pair" another PC like you would an Android device running the "Steam Link" app?

IE my gaming rig is at home, and I'm on a laptop outside the home running steam. The only thing I can maybe figure is a VPN or tunnel but I don't know for sure?

AFAIK, the steam cient itself does not support anywhere yet. Heck, it does not even support desktop takeover like the link app does.

Dang - that's disappointing :(

I know... it rocks on local network, so it would have been easy to control multiple systems that need to do GL output in order to work. But alas :-(.

Sorry for the necro, but I ran into this as well, using Moonlight Gamestream in stead for the time being, only catch is, is that it only works on hosts with an NVidia GPU, sadly.

I do hope that it will get added at some point so that any GPU will work.

There is parsec ( https://parsecgaming.com/ ). I believe it has mouse and keyboard and xbox controller support. Latency seems pretty low.

Recently discovered this too thanks to a friend and yes, it is amazing, and works with a lot of hardware if not all. (Unless the host is just too potato.)

FYI, this is supported in the latest Steam client beta. No pairing is necessary, it should just work wherever you are logged into Steam.

So you can now do steam link PC to PC in the latest beta? That is amazing! I was trying this a couple weeks ago or maybe a week and it didn't seem to be working. Will check it out!

How do we achieve this?

Just log into Steam on two PCs. If both are on and online at the same time they will show up to each other as streaming sources.

both need to be logged into the same steam acct and you can play games installed on the remote pc

Even outside local network?

Yes.

yes, but the host internet upload speed will need to be 30-50+mb/s
and ping between host and client will need to be low for games to be playable
