use another controller or k/m to navigate to the link bt menu
hold ((( + xbox to turn it on in bt pairing mode (so it will not try to sync with other devices first)
finally in the link menu select the xb controller and pair
its easy to identify bt compatible xbox controllers
if the face place around dpad, joys and buttons also goes around th exbox button it supports bt
if the plastic aroudn the xbox button goes around the top edge to l/r shoulder buttons, it does not support bt
The newest one (with the share button) isn't fully compatible with the Steam Link via BT. Steam support said they are waiting for a fix from MS. Works fine with a cable.
The XBOX ONE controller is fully BT compatible.
They are working on NVIDIA shield. I don't really care who is at fault or not. Valve is a big player, they should be able to make this work.
I have the most recent version (AFAIK) with the single-piece front bezel and the share button. The packaging, and the badge inside the battery compartment, simply call it the "XBox Wireless Controller", which is also what it appears as when connected via BT to a windows computer. I was able to use my windows tablet running Steam to connect to the controller and use in-home streaming, so that's something. Sounds like I just have to set up a RPi steam link (if it can recognize the controller) or possibly make a mini-PC to replace the Steam Link.
(go to the tablets bt menu, hold ((( on the controller to put in pairing mode, and pair)
run the link app, make sure the controller works and begin streaming
