Microsoft has a fix that will ship with their next controller firmware update.
Slouken do you have any idea when te new controller firmware will be out?

Just for the Xbox Insiders for now.
Does anyone know if the new firmware mentioned in elbistro's link fixed the issue? I don't have an XBOX myself, nor a USB-C to USB cable, and I already feel duped enough for buying this controller that doesn't work with Steam Link (literally its main use case), so I don't want to buy a cable only to realise the new firmware hasn't fixed this issue yet either.
Thanks
UPDATE: Apparently this was being caused by a gamepad profile being selected no matter the controller enabled/disabled setting. In what I thought was going to be a hopeless attempt, I tried switching the gamepad profile for the controller and noticed a 'Gamepad' profile that mentioned it should be used for in game controls. I selected this and loaded up Terraria and somehow Terraria recognized the controller. What?
Is this the Steam Link virtual keyboard, the one opened from the controller overlay, or the Steam virtual keyboard?
Do you happen to know if the Series X controller is finally compatible with Steam Link using the latest firmware that's apparently only available using Xbox Insiders (for about a month now)? It's gone to their last "insider" ring now, so, in theory, it could be moving to public at some point in time. Unfortunately PC users (I don't own an Xbox) can't register for Xbox Insiders, so I'll have to wait:

Microsoft's change log clearly says they've updated the firmware to help fix connectivity issues (without any further details), and your other post a while ago said Microsoft's next update would contain a fix for the Xbox Series X controller.
I'm just trying to see whether it's still worth waiting for that firmware release to go public or of I should just cut my losses and sell the controller outright and lose a few bucks, but well. It's been in the box since I bought it in March as I thought it was compatible with Steam Link (that's what I bought it for) and I don't even own an Xbox.
Thanks!
Sorry for the late response, it is the one you open with back button menu, I am using it a lot lately because sometimes it just works perfect instead of the old one.
I am using two steam controllers and Ps4 gamepad, moving ps4 left stick to select a letter freezes the screen, NOT HAPPENING with right stick, I can actually move and type with it.
using steam link + ps4 gamepad over bluetooth, up to date win 10.
They've made some improvements but we still don't have it working yet.
How are the Steam controllers connected? Does it happen if they're turned off as well?
