Steam Link

Test Steam streaming on Samsung TV!
Samsung is adding Steam Link functionality directly to their latest line of Smart TVs.
If you are in the United States and have a 2016 or 2017 Samsung UHD TV, we'd like to invite you to help test the Steam Link App, now available as a free beta from the Samsung Smart Hub.

The App uses the same streaming technology as Valve's Steam Link, allowing users to play their favorite games, and even spectate VR games on the HTC Vive, wherever they watch TV.

During the beta, playback of 1080p video at 60 FPS and support for the Steam Controller are included. For worldwide release later this summer, support for streaming 4K resolutions and additional controllers will be added.

Note: Streaming to the TV requires a Steam Controller and a high-quality network, at least 5GHz. A wired network is strongly recommended.

Please let us know how this is working for you and post feedback and questions on the Steam Link discussion forum:

Please get Sony on board too. :CashMoneys:
Sony's new TVs are using Sony’s Android TV for all of the Smart TV functionality and Apps.

I have a Sony XBR65A1E 65-Inch 4K Ultra HD Smart BRAVIA OLED TV (2017 Model), and would love to test Steam Link as an Android App on it!

Where do I actually get the app? I can't find it anywhere on the Smart Hub. I have 2016 6500 and 7000 models.

It's in the TVs' app store.

I have a KS8000 and plugged a DS4 into the USB port of the One Connect Box. It's working in the respect that it works like it's an Xbox One/360 controller. However it's not recognized as a DS4 and doesn't pull in my DS4 profile settings. The rumble is a bit broken so I had to turn it off. A question I have is support for 5.1 surround sound. I don't see an option to enable this.

I have the same TV and also plugged my DS4 into the OneConnect.

Controller is on, but Steam Link just shows the screen asking me to plug in a device. I tried restarting the app and cycled the TV but I can't get past this screen.

I'm sure after a few updates this will work great, but can't really be used as is. To be fair I don't have a wired connection to my laptop, so it's possible I just won't be able to use this until I get a wired connection. I was suprised it couldn't identify my keyboard though. I'm using a MacBook Pro and even when going through the steps to identify my keyboard it couldn't figure it out. I was able to use my controller (PS3) to navigate and once I was in game the game could identify the keyboard if needed.

Would love to test it on my UE55KS8090.

Is there any ETA for the app to test in Germany?

This is great! I would be more than happy to test this on my Samsung UE55KS7000 here in the UK if you could make the app available for us also please. I was seriously considering replacing my steam link with a Nvidia Shield for 4k, but this looks a much better solution if you support 4k with Xbox One controllers!

Is it the TV region or the Steam region that matters?

Interesting move by samsung - too bad they gut half their on the ground staff and raise the price of side lit led panels by thousands this year - that said having a 2016 series 8 in Aus id be keen to see how the 4k goes. Might look at having a crack at switching stores around later on the tv.

Bluetooth range is pretty bad with my ks9000. My dualshock 4 loses signal from the distance I sit at (about 6ft away?).

Interested to see 4k support though. That probably means the TV should be capable of higher bitrates than the Steam Link

I didn't have that issue. So if you plug in the controller to the connect box, it actually is able to control the TV. Maybe try going into the Steam app using the controller.

I had that also and I somehow made it to work by:

1. Revert to your factory region
2. Turn off your tv
3. Wait ~10s
4. Turn on tv, go to samsung store and try to download any app, if there is info that store is currently reloading go back to live tv and try again in a bit.
5. if you are able to download apps from your regions change region to US again.
6. Repeat steps 2-4.
7. If everything is working search "steam" in samsung store.
8. Hopefully you should be able to download and use the steam link app.

Good luck!
