Switch Pro Controller won't reconnect through bluetooth

Recently bought myself a Nintendo Switch Pro Controller for use with my switch and PC. When I tried playing on PC the first time I paired it through bluetooth, windows started "setting it up", steam quickly detected it and everything went fine.

However after turning off the controller/PC and attempting to reconnect later, it never does. While the controller attempts to reconnect the steam client freezes, and only unfreezes when the controller gives up (the controller does appear as "connected" during this period in the control panel). Even worse, if I attempt to reconnect the controller while in big picture mode, it causes steam to crash completely.

Connecting through USB works fine. Also I have a PS4 controller that connects and reconnects through bluetooth alright as well.

Never had any kind of wonky controller driver software, just plain steam.

Right now, whenever I want to use the Procon, I have to delete it from the devices in the control panel and re-pair it with my PC, as that's the only time steam seems to interface with it properly.

Interesting if this info could be verified. My ProController bought years ago, and it has Firmware 3.49 (can be checked with tool such as - https://github.com/CTCaer/jc_toolkit/releases/tag/5.2.0)

I have my doubts this person is correct. If so they are the only person I'm able to find where the issue was fixed via controller firmware update and considering that was 2 years ago I'm sure someone else would have mentioned it by now. They likely had some other issue or got a new/different brand dongle that fixed the issue around the same time they updated the firmware and misattributed it to the firmware upgrade

I don't have Google Drive that I know of. It's possible that UK link may only work if you're in the UK. It's annoying that it doesn't.

This is a driver link from Barrot themselves, they make the chip that is in the CM748:

Hoping that works. There are all sorts of other sites that say they have drivers, but, I don't trust them. I downloaded the .zip from Barrot and the instructions look identical to what I got from Ugreen. If the link and driver work you're golden!

My controller was brand new from Game this year, so, if there had been a firmware update, you'd think it would have had it,

My controller was brand new from Game this year, so, if there had been a firmware update, you'd think it would have had it,

I mean theoretically maybe there's one specific firmware version where the issue is fixed and then it's broken on all other firmware versions, both older and newer, but considering this is the only person to claim a firmware update fixed the issue... I don't think it's legitimate.

Whatever, going the Bluetooth 5.4 route fixed it for me. I know I used the Ugreen CM748 and it worked for me, but, there may be other dongles that will work as long as they support Bluetooth 5.4.

All you can do is buy and try I guess....

I switched to a receiver with Bluetooth 5.4 and it seems to have been fixed, so there is definitely credibility to the issue being 5.0 or some kind of backwards compatibility problem.

WOWWWW that was the exact issue.

Not cm748 but CM748. I can't believe they coded their website without taking in both values (I'm a programmer and you can add an argument that ignores case sensitivity).

I wish you posted this link before I ordered from aliexpress. It's about the same price with shipping. $8 vs $12 except I have to wait 1-2 weeks for it to arrive.

Hoping that works. There are all sorts of other sites that say they have drivers, but, I don't trust them. I downloaded the .zip from Barrot and the instructions look identical to what I got from Ugreen. If the link and driver work you're golden!

Comparing the Barrot download and Ugreen download:

We can see the difference in the setup.exe, where barrots setup.exe is slightly newer and slightly bigger in size.

EVERYTHING ELSE IS IDENTICAL minus the .pdf - it seems ugreen took barrots pdf and used Adobe Acrobat Pro DC to modify it. They also added a Chinese language version.

I went through every single file in both zips and they are identical. I would use the barrot download in this case.

Surprisingly, it was plug and play. I fully expected to have to scavenge through and delete and reinstall drivers but whatever the problem is, it's not the windows driver.

Thanks for this response. That great to hear not having to fiddle with external drivers.

Does your motherboard include Bluetooth and did you have to disable it such as the instructions I posted above your post?

Ah, yeah, the case thing, perhaps I should've made that clearer, I think I did in my full post. I did put CM in all my posts here. You got there anyway!
