Steam Controller

Steam controller not connecting to dongle
I'm driving myself insane trying to find a fix to this. The controller has no problem connecting to the steam link I own, the dongle is being received by my computer(it shows me what USB device it is with a name and all) but when I try to pair the controller to the dongle I just get a pulsating steam logo. I signed up for the beta, I've factory reset the steam link, I've tried every combo of buttons with the steam power on button and just nothing. The controller works fine with a USB connection but that's kind of defeating the purpose of me getting the controller. Any ideas on how to fix this?

Hi there,

Please note that the Steam Link does not require a USB wireless receiver for the Steam Controllers as this is internal within the Steam Link. The Steam Link and USB wireless receiver can pair up to 4 Steam Controllers.

Please remove the batteries and plug your Steam Controller into your host computer using the micro USB cable. Then follow the setup instructions for your operating system found here, including restarting your computer as this is required for the driver installation.

Ensure that 'input streaming' is set to 'enabled' in your Steam Link settings. (Settings > Streaming > Advanced Options)

Then manually pair your controller to the Steam Link.

Remove the wireless receiver from the computer, then remove all USB peripherals from the Steam Link, boot to the blue pairing screen, and pair the Steam Controller by holding "X" with the Steam/Home button.

To toggle between pairing of the wireless receiver and Steam Link, press the Steam button while holding "A".
