Steam Controller

Controller won't connect to Mi box S
I just bought a MiBox S for the sole purpose of using the Steam Link App on my TV. The only problem is my Steam Controller will not connect to the device. I've done the firmware update, and have no problem connecting the controller to other devices (phone & two tablets). When I try to pair the controller with Mi box, as soon as the device tries to connect, the controller turns off. Is there a compatibility issue or is there another solution I could try?

Can someone in the dev team check this out? Definitely is a firmware compatibility problem.

I managed to connect two Steam Controllers to my Mi Box 3 using an app called Bluetooth Pair. It's not Android TV compatible so you'd need to sideload it. I used the version from Aptoide TV https://bluetooth-pair.en.aptoide.com.
It's somewhat hard to navigate the app with the remote so I used a USB mouse.
You won't be able to control the Mi Box with the controller but Steam Link will detect it anyway.

Please can the Steam Controller devs fix this bug already, it's been months now and I still cannot pair the Steam Controller to the Mi Box any more. It used to work fine, I could play all my games on my TV with my Steam Controller, so the hardware is clearly capable. At some point a firmware update was released that broke it all. We invested in your hardware Valve, show us some appreciation and fix this or at least give us the option to roll back to a firmware version that worked.

Still no fix for this bug. The Bluetooth Pair app didn't even detect it during pairing.

It works after new update Mi box S!

SIx months later this is still not fixed. Not sure how cichy_80 got it working but it still definitely immediately disconnects for me when trying to pair.

I was struggling with the same issue but was finally able to fix it today by using:

I used the exact same approach: Side load Aptoide and then install Bluetooth Pair from the Aptoide store (since Bluetooth Pair is not available for Android TV via the Play Store) and then navigate in Bluetooth Pair with a USB mouse.

Many thanks, XZeroLifeX!

There's finally a decent solution; check the Play Store for an app named Bluetooth Scanner. It has a green magnifying glass as it's icon. That app will successfully pair your Steam Controller.

That's the only thing that worked for me, thank you!
