Diagonal joystick movement not reaching 100%
ISSUE
Using "Joystick Move" for the left thumbstick doesn't reach 100% in the diagonal directions (player character will move slowly in diagonal directions but full speed in XY directions) unless the Dead Zone Shape setting is set to "Square" and Enable Deadzone set to "Configuration". With this configuration, the player can move 100% in any direction, as expected.

However, when Dead Zone Shape is set to "Square", it is impossible to have only 100% forward and there is always a slight left or slight right pull. EDIT: The left-right pull looks like it's instead due to the Output Anti-Deadzone. When values are higher, it gets increasingly difficult to push the stick exactly 100% X or Y, and instead pulls slightly into the other axis.

OS
Windows 11

CONTROLLER TYPES:
Steam Controller

CONNECTION TYPE:
Wireless

GAME:
All. Tested with Assassin's Creed Odyssey, God of War, and Assassin's Creed Valhalla

CONFIG LINK:
steam://controllerconfig/acvalhalla/2795373706

STEPS
Select "Gamepad with High Precision Camera/Aim" template for any game.
Move Left Stick to any maximum diagonal direction.

RESULTS
Less than 100% is output for X and Y directions with a diagonal direction is maximized.

EXPECTED
100% in X and Y directions should be output when a diagonal direction is maximized.

This has been driving me nuts too. I use my Steam Deck now mainly for controls, but when I used the Steam Controller this plagued me and I couldn't find a way around it.

I am also plagued by this when using my Switch Pro controller. I have noticed that setting the deadzone to 'Cross' will resolve the issue in some games.

If you find a better solution, please let us know.
