Steam Controller calibration does not work in new ui
When I try to calibrate the pads or my stick the controller just beeps and nothing happens. I tried wired and wireless (ble, lost dongle years ago) and the same thing happens either way.

I have just noticed the same thing.
My right pad is starting to spazz out when just barely hovering over the edge. Calibrating it usually fixes this behavior, but when I tried it did nothing.

pads are fine but I started getting pretty bad stick drift when the new ui hit and never had the issue before. hopefully they implement it.. some time.

I've also just come across this; I can calibrate the gyros but both the track-pad and joystick calibrations fail to do anything. Steam says "blom" and the controller beeps, aside from that bugger-all else happens.

just tried doing the -vgui trick; calibration still didnt work

The code for calibrating the trackpads is the same in both UI's. I can see the same USB traffic being sent in both cases and the same boop sent by the controller. Are you sure this has regressed from a client change?

it doesnt seem to fix the very erratic/glitchy behavior on the edges of the trackpad (when barely touching) like it used to.

That behavior is not present in lizard mode for some reason though. Maybe its a different issue?

Hi, I've been having the same issue also in that I had to replace an aging joystick in my steam controller, but can't calibrate the new one since I'm having identical behaviour when i try to open either the joystick or the trackpad calibration mention

Any updates to this? I'm experiencing the exact same issue with calibrating the Steam Controller joystick. In Big Picture Mode when I click on Settings > Controller > Calibration & Advanced Settings > Sensors > Joystick Calibration, the controller beeps and nothing happens.

I'm having the same problem. Discouraging...

Six months and no fix, rendering my controller useless because I can no longer set the dead zone or correct the random walking caused by drift. Planned/forced obsolescence?

Wondering if I'll ever purchase your hardware again Valve? With this kind of customer support for fixing a bug that broke a required feature that used to work perfectly well, no one should purchase your hardware anymore. And I used to be so tempted by the deck...

PS: The fact that I need an extended T6 Torx driver (not included in my 122 piece electronics tool kit, nor in my thousands of dollars worth of other tools I purchased over multiple decades of appliance manufacturing work) just to open the unit to clean/fix it, seals the deal that I will never buy Steam hardware again. Replacing the battery in my MacBook Pro wasn't even this much of a pain.

The same. Valve, why don't you support people who bought your controller?
