Steam Controller

Steam Controller

[Fixed] Steam Controller is not detected by FFXIV
ISSUE
The Steam Controller is not detected by Final Fantasy XIV. When I got to enable the controller inputs in game no controllers are detected.

I've tried launching the game with an actual Xbox controller plugged in. That worked once. I tried running steam as administrator. That didn't work, but it did fix the steam controller for Killing Floor 2, so there's that. I have ran the steam beta from the 17th and the 13th of July. I have also tried running the game without opting in on the beta. Naturally I've used google to search for other solutions. Only thread with similar issues as me said that it broke with a recent windows 10 update. I'm out of ideas.

OS
Windows 10

CONTROLLER TYPES:
Steam Controller

CONNECTION TYPE:
Wired and Wireless

GAME:
Final Fantasy XIV

CONFIG LINK:
config irrelevant. No x-inputs work. Keyboard shortcuts work fine.

STEPS
Start game
Attempt to enable controller in game

RESULTS
No input devices detected

EXPECTED
Controller should be visible to the game.

Is the overlay working on the game?

Yes. Everything else is kosher. I can run it in BPM on my Steam Link. PS4 controllers don't work either. With and without configuration enabled. No Xinput is working.

You can add Killing Floor 2 back to the list of games that won't detect Xinput from the steam controller. I can run them with keyboard shortcuts.

I believe this is the same issue as this other thread:

ScottD has found and fixed the bug. This should ship in the next Steam Beta Client.
