Steam Controller

Steam Controller

Multiple bluetooth pairings doesnt work
So youre supposed to be able to have 2 for each bluetooth pairings and dongle pairings (B + STEAM and start + STEAM for bluetooth, A + STEAM and back + STEAM for the dongle) but the profiles dont actually seem to be seperate.

I tried to pair my controller to 2 different devices with the above button combos, but i consistently find the same pairing gets programmed in for both profiles as soon as one pairing is complete, making the concept of multiple profiles useless. Am i doing something wrong or is it time for a firmware update? I dont know if the same is true for dongles because i only have one dongle.

Hello!

I'm a little confused with your issue, let me see if I can clarify.

It sounds like you are able to have 2 separate Bluetooth connections, and are able to successfully connect between two different devices. is that correct?

You mention different profiles. Do you mean the same Device is being set to both pairing slots?

Any additional information you can provide regarding the issue will help me look into this issue.

Hi, no i cannot get 2 seperate bluetooth connections to work in their 2 seperate slots. From my testing, it kind of seems like the most recent pairing i do ends up in both slots, that is, if i do b + STEAM or start + STEAM (and the controller make a different beep tone for each to indicate slot 1 or 2) it makes no diference, both those will connect to the same device, the last device i paired the controller with. Im not exactly sure if thats what is actually happening, but thats how it seems to me. I have also been using "profiles" to mean "slots".

This has been a problem ever since the BLE firrmware came out.

Hi, is there any update or further comment on this? Looking at the 'pairing to multiple devices'' section here https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=7728-QESJ-4420 still doesnt seem to relate in any way to what i can get the controller to actually do. Is it false information, or just badly explained? Is it a bug, or am i just doing it wrong? I still dont know.

If you have followed the instructions from this link: https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=7728-QESJ-4420
then it seems that Start+Steam and Back+Steam is swapped. Back+Steam is for secondary bluetooth device, and Start+Steam is for secondary receiver.

Edit: I am constantly trying to connect two bluetooth devices, but I do not see how to swap between them. Starting the controller with Y+Steam seam to put it in Bluetooth paring mode, while Back+Steam also does the same. But B+Steam does exactly the same thing afterward as the Steam button by it self, so even tough it seem I was able to pair with 2 devices (Mac and Android in my case), I can't switch between them.
