Steam controller firmware upgrade crashes Steam on Mac OS

When I attempt to update the firmware on my Steam Controller via Big Picture Mode on Mac OS 10.14.2, the app crashes.

Hi, I tested this locally on 10.14.2 and was able to reproduce it, it seems to be intermittently occurring due to an issue with Steam discovering USB devices. We should have a fix for this available in beta in the coming weeks, I can let you know when it is available for testing. In the time being, if you have access to a Windows machine or can access one for a short time you should be able to use it to perform the update without issue.

Hi, unfortunately I'd thought the fix that I referenced would be able to be included in an earlier beta but its release has been delayed a bit and will instead be in the next beta released. I apologize for the delay and I'll let you know when it's available.

Yes, it's release was delayed a bit more but it's definitely available in the current beta release of Steam and I think was included in the last public release as well.

Hello, I'm having a similar issue on macOS 10.14.4.
It's not exactly the same issue but it is the same abnormal code. Indeed, my Steam client cannot even start which is a bit limiting.
