Trackpad for aiming in shooters, no thanks.
I do not care how good is the trackpad. I am not playing a shooter with a freaking trackpad for aiming when I can play it with any other gamepad on the market that includes 2 joysticks. Although personally I prefer a mouse for shooters, but here I am just talking about gamepads.

you can keep using an xbox pad if you wish, suprising some of you are complaining as so many people say you cant play them without aim assist :/ im one that says aim assist isnt needed and havent been using it for 2 years now. but i still want to give this a try

If you don't like it don't use it, It's pretty simple...

Personally, I am planning to use this on a ton of games just hope it has a way to do marcos.

Well if you go gamepad vs gamepad you will always lose without the trackpad.

If you want to stick to a terrible outdated design that was never meant to be used for shooters, that's your choice.

WOW, that is a bold statement. Have you considered the fact that modern shooters have aim-assist built into the software to accomodate the inadequacy of using an analog input to aim? I wonder how that feature of modern shooters would affect testing this theory? :d2invoker:

You guys really shouldn't even reply to this thread. He said he'd rather use a thumbstick, which means he's either an idiot or a troll. Neither one of those thing is capable of intelligent discourse.

Yeah, it's a bold overstatement. Gamepad vs gamepad you will always have a built-in disadvantage going thumbstick vs. trackpad. But if Fatal1ty was using a thumbstick and I was using a trackpad in a DM, I would certainly still lose - just maybe the score would be 96 to 0 instead of 115 to 0 if we were both on trackpads.

I have already finished this game, get good, learn some skills, stop crying, and just get better, do some training, build up some stamina, we don't want cry babies crying all the time

Thanks

You've obviously never tried to play a first person shooter on a laptop without the mouse. Trackpads are horriblly inaccurate, no way it will beat a thumbstick. Not to mention that console gamers have grown used to the thumbsticks by now.

Tha trackpad might work well in shooters but for other games it'll be awful. Valve designed this for fps games and completely ignored other genres

You can't aim with an analog stick without aim assist. If you state otherwise, you're lying or you're fine with getting bottom of the scoreboard in video games.

I'm totally looking forward to the trackpad for FPS/aiming. I've never found analog sticks easy to use for precise movements, so this looks way better. My biggest area of concern is the "d-pad" (and the placement of the ABXY buttons).

I've actually used this, it works really well with a lot of games, including RTS(I prefer the input to a traditional mouse with an RTS, but no hotkeys, which sucks) As for FPS, it works surpisingly well, I can keep up with my CS buddies using this controller, and have become quite adept with it, It beats an xbox controller 10/10 times when playing serious FPS, and 4/10 over a mouse(Still not quite as good) but I cant sit and use a mouse and keyboard on a couch, sooo

And you obviously never bothered to read much details on what Valve and reviewers have said about the Steam Controller's touchpads. If you think all they did was slap two laptop touchpads on a controller and call it a day, maybe you should go read up some more, boss.

True enough. And I'll admit, I kinda like freelooking with thumbsticks as far as the overall tactile feel goes. Then a serious firefight happens and I want to throw the controller at the wall. But to game developers' credit, they've gotten awefully good about subtle autoaim, AI and thumbstick "acceleration" tweeks to make freelook aiming way less obnoxious then most of the early gen console shooters had.

But it is still too inneficient for my tastes, a virtual trackball replacing the right stick should be a nice step up. Especially if they've implemented the virtual trackball well, and this is Valve - they probably did...

mouse keyboardd vs analog vs trackball. its not 100% of course but a toucnpadis probably going to be better then a trackball.

plus i use a controller with out any aim assist . BO2 1.6KD and goldd nova 4 in CSGO . either evice is only as goodd as the person using it
AydanR Mar 20, 2015 @ 5:53pm
