Oh, if OP is still bothered with this thread somehow, reminder that I've been using SC for a year and no input lag at all. I'm not an expert at radio frequency thingy but I don't bother anyway since I hardly get input lag wirelessly.
I'm playing around with a Sony DualShock 4 atm and noticed I can get upto 1000mhz/1ms using my motherboards onboard Bluetooth antenna with the DS4Win application in Win10... but now that I've paired the DS4 with Steam's Big Picture I'm really curious as to what the polling rate is with Steam!
Congrats. You will see significantly worse battery life in exchange for the most unnoticable of improvements possible. You're talking a difference of 3ms MAX (an average of 1.5 ms improvement across the board) for quadruple the polling calls to your controller which will not only make you have to charge it more often and increase the risk of it dying on you mid-game, but also significantly impact the longetivy of the battery in a controller that does not allow you to remove/replace them.
Others aren't. Or maybe they have other needs outside of gaming.
But who's to judge them?
I'm simply interested in the technical specification for Steams polling rates via Bluetooth/SC receiver and how it was obtained.
eh, for what its worth I would be interested to know the exact numbers as well. I would assume steam uses nothing but the default, but I'n not for sure on that. there are no other numbers to select in the configuration for steam, so it would only make sense for them to make it the default.
It's lower than that now. Testing it out I'm only getting up to 125 in desktop.
I do know at one point there was an update that increased the polling rate while playing videos, but that is no longer the case.
Is there any chance for a higher polling rate?
It not my tests, just from web:
Dualshock 4 over Bluetooth - 500Hz (In theory, on my pc 250-300hz now with ryochan)
Dualshock 4 over USB - 250Hz (yep, less than bt)
v1 and v2 same
Xbox One controller - 125Hz. I don't know about Elite v1 and v2
Steam Controller - I don't know
Maybe somebody with steam controller try just move cursor with touchpad in online test ?
Can somebody check it with dongle and over bluetooth ?
I don't have steam controller and can't check options in glosc or indicontroller
