Dbrand skins says they won't do SC skins!
Hey, I made a request for Dbrand to do SC skins and this is what they sent me.

Hey Kevin!

Unfortunately there simply isn’t enough demand to justify the high time and financial costs associated with adding the Steam Controller to our portfolio at this time. Sorry about that. Let us know if there’s anything else we can help with and have a great day!

How about everybody here who might want one send them a request. Maybe there is a demand just not a vocal one!

Also, DecalGirl includes tutorial videos for each of the devices available.
I just wonder how well the touchpads will behave with the vinyl. Specially the D-Pad since it has a concave cruz.
I dont expect much from PRINTED vinyl. The nice 3M stuff Dbrand uses cannot be printed on because it is textured and formed. I think it's 3-4 mil? if it's printable from a regular dyesub printer like a big print shop has then it'll be crap. But I should prolly just ask them about it, contact and send an email or something. Would be nice to know.

Yes, but I want something to protect the controller, specially the glossy plastic, from scratches, and I guess something like decagirl should do for now. At least until companies like Dbrand start making skins for the Steam Controller. It is removable so that's cool.

By the way they answered me the same thing they answered you.

Yeah. I never used anything like that, but then again i never had anything that needed to be protected much. I might get some skins for the SC, but i'm horrible at applying those.

I once bought a screen protector for my phone and i couldn't get it on without bubbles... I felt like a moron lol. :P
Applying the vinyl is way easier than applying the screen protector on your phone. you don't have to worry at all about air bubbles. Just line it up where it should be and then apply force to it.

Oh cool! Btw, if you do get it, post here and tell us how the touchpads work with the vinyl over them...

Also, what type of adhesive do stuff like that use? I mean, won't it leave some kind of residue if you remove it? I would hate to stick something permanent on the controller, or something that might ruin it.

Oh yes, it will leave residue. Just dont do anything crazy like use acetone to clean it off. I had a customer do that for a ps3 controller and he started melting the plastic. Use just normal everyday 90% rubbing alcohol. 70 would work but you may have to let the thing dry before you can use it again.

Lol! Well that was a bright idea! :D I mean come on. Everyone knows you use alcohol for cleaning computer stuff. It evaporates quickly and doesn't leave itself all over your hardware. :)

Did you facepalm? I would. :P

I haven't tried Decagirl but they promote their skins as removable and that it won't leave any residues in the device. Quoting:

Skins are removable

If you get tired of your skin or want a new one, just peel it off. Our special adhesive won't leave any goo or residue.

I've also read reviews of people confirming this, but I haven't tried it myself.

Oh cool! Well then, if the touchpads won't work or work less reliably or feel weird, you can just peel that part off and leave the rest.

It looks cool with the touchpads covered though. :)

Sure it does! It looks way cooler with the touchpads covered. I will report back with the results of the responsiveness of the touchpads with the skin. I already ordered mine, but shipping to my country will take a little over a week so, yea, it will take some time.

Well, in a stor scenario. Especially when you own it you have to be way super nice to people or you lose out on customers. There was a very Spok like eyebrow raised, however. He did't make his controller unusable but the plastic was all messed up and felt like patches of lizard scales. I just sold him a new controller. :) And a game, and I gave him a 10% pity discount.

Ha-ha, so true, so true. Man I could go on for days about my days at the store. We were in a rather poor area of town. I even had to draw my gun in someone twice. We got all kinds I'll tell you.
