Sticking buttons already? Anybody else?
Have about 50 hours invested with the controller thusfar, and the X button is starting to feel mushy and "sticky" I haven't used it with greasy hands, dropped it, spilled anything on it, nothing of the like. It's not bad, but very noticeable and annoying as ♥♥♥♥. Is there a way to disassemble for cleaning/inspection? just the four outer screws? I'm really annoyed by this, the controller is basically new and already has a button sticking about as badly as my nearly ten year old PS3 controller with hundreds of hours of use.

Update- I turned the controller off, wetted a piece of paper with isopropyl and slid the paper into the gap between the button and moved it around slowly while pressing the button in and out - seems to be cleaned. Seems like some tiny piece of gunk got in there. Still, seems quite sensitive, which has me worried.

It started sticking again about ten minutes later, but I repeated the process and continually pressed the button in and out while the alcohol dried, repeated it two more times, and the issue resolved and has stayed that way. Must have just been some small bit of gunk that got wedged in there. Put about 25 more hours onto the controller since and it's fine.

The downside of using it for general 'internet browsing' *ahem* :D

Did the X button feel different to the other buttons before it started sticking?

Ha-ha, thank you trucker I needed that. Baby wipes. For general cleaning I use normal everyday baby butt wipes. No worries for damage and they get rid of a good amount of grease. And work as a hand cleaner too.

I hate to say it but you just have dirty hands using it, just wash ur hands before gaming. I have been doing that for 25 years so as long as my 3 year old doesn't spill juice in it I'm good.

If that becomes a huge issue its easy to take apart though. A t6 is all you need just don't lose any screws!!!

You're better off with a lint-free cloth and isopropyl (rubbing) alcohol. Baby wipes often have additives and stuff...who knows what effect it might have?

If you can find thin microfiber cloth it's good. Tea towels work well also.

As far as hand prep goes; keep your thumbnails trimmed up, clean your hands (better than keeping a trackball clean), and don't let your hands get too dry. Aveeno lotion is good for your hands and doesn't leave an oily residue (no good for general 'internet browsing' though).

Good point on the baby wipes, the brand I use is just the generic store brand from Sam's club and it is just lightly soapy wet. The huggies has left some residue before so I dint really consider that. My only problem with alcohol is if you are intending on using it immediately, handling alcohol is very harsh and drys the hell out of your skin even with lotion. I was in CE repair for 7 years so I know how bad that can get! I just use alcohol after a few days when I feel it needs a GOOD cleaning.

For me it's the B button and I never got to use it much. I just started using it for Dragon Ball Fighter Z and all the sudden. Button is slow going.

Question, what you mean by, sensitive? And how to fit the paper into the button while it's wet? I don't think none of my paper is good enough.... Please help with tips. I don't have the wipes at the moment and it will be awhile before I go to any store....

But I have random affects on my skin from lotion... Any other hand tips please?
