How to erase game profile from steam controller (SOLVED)
I recently added a controller profile to Torchlight 2 via the steam controller and I want to remove it from the steam controller configuration but I'm unable to do so. Is there a way to reset the controller settings so that I can map my own? The profile that I used was jeyface. My OS is win7 64bit.

If anyone has a simple tut on how to map the buttons using the steam controller I would really appreciate it. A video of it would really be helpful and greatly appreciated.

Thank You

Not sure how you would delete a game profile you made because they synced with steam cloud i think. Never tried. Nothing holding you back in starting a new configuration, is there?

Sadly the guides section of this group is not activated which should be the first place we are looking for guides i reckon.

Plenty vids describing a huge array of setups for different games on other websites though. http://steamcommunity.com/app/353370/discussions/0/496880503082940829/

You can delete a saved profile in the game controller settings under "personal". Highlight the one you one to remove and then press the remove button.
I had this issue as well, I made a community config for Luftrausers, then about a half hour later I realized all the bindings I was using were based on my goofy in game config anyway. I went to delete it (going into community configs, finding mine, and then it said press X to delete) it prompted me if I was sure, I hit yes, but my config is apparently still there. Not sure if that's something they're still working on or what, or if it's just a sort of delayed reaction, but it appears to still be there.

It may still be alive for as long as somebody else is using it?

Hello everyone and thank you for all of your assistance but unfortunately I'm still having problems deleting jeyface's profile from my controller. I'm also encountering another problem also. I've followed @get n or get out suggestion and tried to delete the controller settings under personal but that is not an option for me. I clicked the controller settings and it has listed 5 different steam controller profiles, I only have 1 steam controller I don't know why it list 5 different ones. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Thank you

Ok I solved this problem.

A BIG THANK YOU GOES OUT TO GET N OR GET OUT FOR HIS DIRECTIONS
I was looking under the settings configs that is why I could not find the profile to delete it from my controller instead of looking under the manage profiles category.

1. I opted for the beta for the steam controller and that eliminated the extra steam controllers and it actually began to function properly.

In order to delete your game profile from your steam controller follow the following steps. You must use Big Picture with your controller turned on to do so.

2, Go to your library and select your game in my case it was Torchlight 2

3. Select manage profiles which is located on the left

4. Chose configure controller

5. Press x to browse configs

6. Under controller configurations select "personal"

7. Under this category select the profiles you want to delete and this will remove your controllers profile.

Hm, I now have a different profile under my personal configurations, but it has the same name than the published on. I cannot delete the public profile and saving/publishing my config does not seem to alter the already published one. Anyone has a fix for this??

I'm a little confused with what you are saying, did you load a profile onto your controller and your trying to remove that one?

That is happening to me (on a different game) I am getting very sad now because I can't play my game with the official controls which steam said there were none ;(

Nope non of this helped. I literally can not delete my steam controller game profile. Under personal there is nothing. I can only make new profiles. I can't even switch to them using big picture mode. I also have the latest firmware. GOD STEAM WTF IS WRONG WITH YOU'RE CONTROLLER.

Hi guys,
Sorry to necro an old thread but i had a similar problem that took me hours to fix, so i am posting the solution that worked for me in the end. For me the problem was getting my logitech controller working with Supermeatboy on ubuntu. I tried mapping the controls in the Controller settings in Big picture mode. Not only did it not work but i couldn't delete the mapping after i screwed it up. Deregister account, nothing worked... So these are the steps i did to make steam forget my controller :

1. Exit Steam . Otherwise steam will undo all the changes you are about to make.
2. Find your config.vdf file. This should be in your steam folder... something like "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\config\confg.vdf" on Windows or ~/.steam/steam/config/config.vdf on linux
3. open it with a text editor.
4. Run a Search for the word "SDL_GamepadBind". This should return a line like below :

“SDL_GamepadBind” “891600000000000000fd000000000000,Razer Onza TE,a:b0,b:b1,y:b3,x:b2,start:b8,guide:b10,back:b9,leftstick:b6,rightstick:b7,leftshoulder:b4, rightshoulder:b5,dpup:b11,dpleft:b13,dpdown:b12,dpright:b14,leftx:a0,lefty:a1,rightx:a3,righty:a4,lefttrigger:a2,righttrigger:a5,”

Here Instead of "Razer Onza" it should show the name of whatever controller you have that is giving you problems. Delete the lines (Be careful not to delete stuff outside those lines).

5. Start steam. Hopefully Steam should have forgotten all about your controller and you can go back to your life.

Adding to the necro, but you helped me a lot. I had a problem where the guide button just wasn't focusing Steam or pulling up Big Picture, even though I'd already ruled out the Game Bar in Windows 10, and while all other buttons worked fine.

Same as you, I went to my Steam install directory, then opened config\config.vdf as a text file.

There's a line: "Controller_CheckGuideButton" "0"

I change that 0 to a 1, and I can use the Guide button again. It was very weird that toggling the options in the application didn't help, but this did.
