Steam Controller not working on Fallout 4
Well, I get my steam controller the other day with my steam link and playing Wolfestein for example works perfectly, but when I try to play Fallout 4 with the controller the game doesnt recognize any input method, I must turn off the controller to show the mouse cursor. I can't even press the steam button to make the steam overlay apperars. You guys know any solution for this?

I can only report that I haven't had any issues. Make sure the overlay is enabled for FO4 and make sure your configuration matches what FO4 expects (gamepad config with controller enabled in-game, KB/M config with controller disabled in-game).

Thanks DT,
I am quite certain but not sure that BPM is working properly for the game.
The uncertainty only arises because when I launch from BPM it flickers a bit, as well when I hot key out of the FO4 Launcher I can't get back in from the overlay to the game.

w.r.t. " Make sure the overlay is enabled for FO4" ... Is there a way to specifically tell Steam to work with one program with Overlay. As I thought just launching from BPM set it to overlay mode ... Perhaps this is where I am going wrong? HMMMM?

w.r.t. "make sure your configuration matches what FO4 expects (gamepad config with controller enabled in-game, KB/M config with controller disabled in-game)". ..... I set the game while in BPM to use the controller and even save the config with my name and have even downloaded another and see it as an options and have chosen that (now 3 different profiles) so I think the Steam side is done. In the game in "Settings" I have tried a million time "Controller" ON and Off no change. Curiously? Am I correct to understand that FO4/Settings/Controller OFF really means KB/M Off?

and thanks for all your help :steambored:

Just launching the game via BPM may not enable the overlay. In the regular Steam client (not BPM) right-click FO4 in your Library and select Properties. On the General tab make sure 'Enable the Steam Overlay while in-game' is checked.

As far as matching configs; if you have gamepad support enabled in FO4's settings you have to use a gamepad config. The easiest way to make sure everything is working properly is to make sure gamepad is enabled in FO4 options and use the recommended official config provided by Bethesda (which is a controller-style config). If that works then if you want to use a KB/M-style config instead just uncheck gamepad in FO4's options.

Still not working, and for me it may be related to the fact that it is a Non-Stream Version of FO4. I just got an notice in Linux that there is an update today for "non-Steam" games and the controller. If I have any luck I will post it.
Cheers, Mark

In other words, you pirated the game. There is no legal 'non-Steam' version of Fallout 4. Sucks to be you that stuff doesn't work.....tard. I have no sympathy for you nor will I assist you in any way.

There is no thing as a "steam OS version".

What he was saying is that there is no "non steam" version of Fallout 4. If you bought the game it came with a steam key for activation which means it is native to steam and thus can never be a non steam game. No game that came with a steam key is.

Wether it supports SteamOS or not is a completely different and unrelated question. Just wanted to clear that up, but don't actually have any suggestions on how you could fix your issue, runs fine on windows :/

Yup, doesn't matter what OS you're running it on. They ALL require Steam and you're a pirate...and I think it's hilarious when thieves whine about something not working. poooooor widdle baby-kins *poutpoutpout* (and yes, you ARE a tard for whining about your stolen goods being broken).

I've learned that if a game has a launcher, it seems to interfere with the SC most of the time. So try adding the .exe of whichever game you want to play, to your steam library. Like, for example, the Fallout 4 shortcut on your home screen links to the launcher, you need to change that to link to the .exe. And then have steam library link to the shortcut you just made. I hope this helps anybody.

The SC works perfectly fine with FO4, the above problem was caused by the doofus pirating the game. Dunno about other games tho....and congrats on the thread necro.

Necro or not, a problem is a problem. There's never a bad time to fix a problem, except for a few things....

I bought and paid for this game through Steam when it first came out. I bought a steam controller and it used to work with FO4 (or maybe it was my old 360 controller?). After I took a break from the game, I come back to it not working. I know there was a steam controller firmware update since then but not sure if that has anything to do with it. I've tried everything posted here and I appreciate the help but I really need this to work. If I turn off the controller option in FO4, the controller almost works but I cant move, all other buttons work.
