Did you ever manage to get this to work?
The SC uses very different ways of talking to the game as an Xinput so if the game uses player number for detection it is bound to fail. If the game uses hardware ID though, works a treat. The later is absolutely what is supposed to be used and is more compatible with any Xinput device, even emulated ones like PS3/4 controllers and quite a few PC controller as well.
Sucks about Rayman though, I hate to say it but you may just be stuck using another controller for at least that one till this is sussed out.
The fix for Rayman has been that I map my steam controller to keyboard inputs and my gf gets to use the 360 controller, but that one is wired so it's a bit of a hassle, and also the left thumb-stick gets stuck when you pull it up and to the right, so its just not preferable. Workable, but not preferable, and we've decided on holding off on playing until we can both use a steam controller. I just hope that developers starts going through their back-catalogue and putting in support for the steam controller. It shouldn't be that hard for them to do, right?
So I have the opposite situation. I have kids and they pretend they can play. They really press one button (gas in racing games) and I just want to control the directions with d-pad. Using one controller its aching my back. I do have two steam controllers so ideally I want two controllers as a single input. How can I recreate this?
On Xbox One S or X, this is called co-pilot mode for two controllers and I have yet to see anyone else embrace this. I have seen it used in Super Mario 3D world on Wii U when four players are allowed to controll Plessie. It's a big fun factor and huge deal when gaming with younglings. It enables me to assist my kids while we game together. I can imagine the myriad of other games I can play with my little ones. Anyone have any idea how to set up two controllers as one?
LOL!! That's funny, this is even later... I am not sure, but I hope that battlefield or call of duty can be played by two controllers.
