Setting up two controllers
I bought two controllers and a link, I am currently trying to set it up so that my gf and I can co-op in rayman, but I can't seem to give the controllers different control schemes. Anyone know how I get steam to register them as two different controllers so that I can give them seperate control schemes?

(Minor side-thing: the game is really frustrating me by using one set of back/select buttons for menus and another set of back/select buttons for when I'm on the overworld screen where you either select to go in to a stage or back to the snooring tree.)

It doesn't seem like it's possible, from the few impressions we've had of two Steam Controllers running at once. You're best off using a regular XInput controller until Valve irons out the kinks with dual-controllers, if you guys need to have seperate binds that badly.

Did you ever manage to get this to work?

It is still not possible to have different profiles per controller. This is probably something Valve should hop on sooner than later. I want at least 2 more but I know my wife and my 3 year old son would NEVER be able to rock the crazy control schemes I use for say, Terraria.

If the game isnt made for controllers or it is but does not detect multiple steam controllers as seperate inputs then you are pretty much screwed as far as local myltiplayer goes. It makes me very sad, I want to finish Rayman Origins with my gf :(

Send in a request for this. I have 4 controllers and its fun in Gang Beasts but we all have to use the same bindings.

My understanding is that with more than one SC it seems to be just fine. It's just when mixing SC and other Xinput devices like a 360 controller it breaks down. I play Goat Simulator with my son, Mario Kart on Dolphin and quite a few other steam games too and mostly they seem to work. I dont have 2 SCs on hand though but mixing does not work with Sonic Transformed and a handful of others.

The SC uses very different ways of talking to the game as an Xinput so if the game uses player number for detection it is bound to fail. If the game uses hardware ID though, works a treat. The later is absolutely what is supposed to be used and is more compatible with any Xinput device, even emulated ones like PS3/4 controllers and quite a few PC controller as well.

Sucks about Rayman though, I hate to say it but you may just be stuck using another controller for at least that one till this is sussed out.

The real pain I'm having is with Trine. Using the trackpad as a joystick is horrible (especially for the wizard), but it's the only way I could get it to work "properly" with local co-op. Using the controller with keyboard / mouse scheme is brilliant, but it makes both controllers control the same character because they are recognized as a single keyboard / mouse. I was hoping to work around it with separate schemes and make one keyboard / mouse scheme and other joystick scheme. Then at least one of us could control wizard without getting RSI.

That's weird, I have two Steam Controllers and a wired 360 Controller, and I've played Sonic Transformed using all three without any problems.

The fix for Rayman has been that I map my steam controller to keyboard inputs and my gf gets to use the 360 controller, but that one is wired so it's a bit of a hassle, and also the left thumb-stick gets stuck when you pull it up and to the right, so its just not preferable. Workable, but not preferable, and we've decided on holding off on playing until we can both use a steam controller. I just hope that developers starts going through their back-catalogue and putting in support for the steam controller. It shouldn't be that hard for them to do, right?

Yeah, Trine, that's another game that I've tried and given up on until devs or valve sort some stuff out. Unplayable witht the trackpad.

Frankly, I haven't tried sonic transformed for quite a few weeks so I may have to try again, maybe they fixed it already and didn't tell anyone! In fact there are several games what were just broken before and are now fixed. I wish the chnagelog for the updates were a bit more detailed but hey, at least it's getting done!

you can configure two controllers by going to the steam big picture, the icon will be next to the x button to close the window and once you connect your second controller it will detect automatically .. just tried it and it worked

So I have the opposite situation. I have kids and they pretend they can play. They really press one button (gas in racing games) and I just want to control the directions with d-pad. Using one controller its aching my back. I do have two steam controllers so ideally I want two controllers as a single input. How can I recreate this?

On Xbox One S or X, this is called co-pilot mode for two controllers and I have yet to see anyone else embrace this. I have seen it used in Super Mario 3D world on Wii U when four players are allowed to controll Plessie. It's a big fun factor and huge deal when gaming with younglings. It enables me to assist my kids while we game together. I can imagine the myriad of other games I can play with my little ones. Anyone have any idea how to set up two controllers as one?

LOL!! That's funny, this is even later... I am not sure, but I hope that battlefield or call of duty can be played by two controllers.
