How do I delete all the data in the cloud? I don't really fancy rebuying all my games on a new account just to get controllers working again.
I wanted to play Sonic Mania with an iBuffalo SNES controller and it didn't seem to work.
So i tried to clear the profile and button changes and there is no option for that. I also tried to clear all button changes and leaving them blank and save it blank and it won't let me because it keeps me trapped configuring my buttons because some buttons are not configured.
The controller most of the times have rapid fire inputs where I cant control the options or navigate.
I basically want to completely delete all controller options, saves, configurations, connections, and whatever else and start from zero again. Even the reset to default doesn't work. Even choosing a premade config to get an old setup back doesn't work.
I found a 2 year old forum showing us how to delete the files. That didn't work. The profile still exist somewhere and I want it gone.
Fifth post down. This will work for a generic controller. If you want a generic controller to be handled by Steam but want to redo it like it was fresh, the first time you plugged it in and tried to use it with Steam, this will work. If you don't want Steam to handle it at all, you can just disable support for it, restart or replug and then you are golden.
With a Steam controller, you can't really and there is really no need. The settings for that are all account level. You can unregister a controller, rename it and re-register with a different name and all but there is no reason why you would need to do this since you can just reapply a template to a game or for the desktop config. For a DS4, it's the same but you can also just turn off DS4 support entirely and that's it, it will work like it used to. Same goes for the XBOX controllers except all XBOX style controllers share the same config since they cannot be distinguished between.
Just bear in mind, sometimes you might have to restart Steam or even your PC to get things to fully redetect. I had this happen one time with my N64 controller I was using yet it worked great two other times in a row with only replugging the controller.
Venomeyes if you check back in on this thread I reccomend using JoyToKey instead of steam. This is what I am doing now and it works with Sonic Mania flawlessly, steam just isn't worth the headache this can cause.
Venomeyes, does it not support gamepads? I don't own it so I don't actually know. If it does then you should just disable Steam's support for the controller and then all should be well since it will rely on the games own support instead. If you have to use KB/M inputs, yeah, Joy2Key may very well be the best option is Steam is truly unusable for that game. I also don't have that specific controller either or I would try it out myself. I have tons of classic game console controllers and proper adapters for most along with maybe 30 different kinds of classic PC controllers to much about with. So far, they all seem to work properly, though, some don;t have enough buttons to be super useful for more modern games.
At least I tried...
I have done a couple of combinations unplug, reconnect, unregister, and delete certain files (I put them back).
I figurged I would have to use a different program to make the iBuffalo SNES controller to play sonic mania. It just really bugged me not bing able to delete saved files and profiles and starting from fresh like the first time. I like to keep things organised and without clutter.
Funny thing is that I would play the Sega Classics games, like Gunstar Heroes, and sonic without any problems, and I assume is because those games come with its own button configurations within its own launcher. It also detects the controller as a generic as well.
Yes , i deleted everything including starting and including "SDL_Gamepadbind" up till the end"
I personally wouldn't touch "Define Layout" with the ibuffalo controller.
It seem to cause some weird bugs.
In my case whenever i tried to define the buttons on the Ibuffalo it either asked me about LeftX and LeftY and refused to save or even after saving with a bit of luck the ibuffalo was pressing automatically DPAD up by itself like it was in turbomode (there is no turbo for the DPAD just for the facebuttons and the shoulderbuttons).
The defaultlayout is also a bit weird, DPADdown is defined as axis1 and DPADright is defined as axis 0.
Now that it works i wont touch the "define layout option anymore"
A and B and X and Y are switched in the default setting , but nah, too risky to rebind the buttons.
Thx the fix worked.
