How do you deregister your controller from account and remove all settings from Steam Cloud?
How do you deregister the controller from your account and remove all settings from the cloud? Valve should really work on the cloud management. It's ridiculous that user has no control over what's stored in the cloud.

In Big Picture settings under "Add / Test" find your controller and press Deregister account.

Thanks! How about all settings and made configurations. I see no option to 'reset' or remove settings anywhere. The same goes of course for ALL Steam Cloud files. Could Valve take a look at this finally? I mean it's been at least 3 years since Steam Cloud was introduced and it's still very much missing many essential features.

I have not add/test in settings in BP

The name has changed. It's now "Settings"->"Controller"->"Controller Settings"

there is no "Deregister account" button anymore?

edit: there is for my steam controller, but not for my generic controller

edit 2: even after disabling "Generic Gamepad Configuration Support" and restarting steam and reconnecting my controller, it still shows up. I have to fully turn off steam if I don't want my generic controller using my steam controller desktop configuration...

You can unregister it, but that doesn't actually do what you want. You go to controller settings, put focus on your account name then hit x.

Does it show up as ___: ____ or does it show up as "xinput controller" with a generic logo? The 2nd thing is totally fine.

Try disabling Xbox controller support also? This works totally fine for me.

in controller settings there's no account name button like there is with my steam controller, for some reason.

I'm not sure what __: ____ means, but it shows up as "generic gamepad", which I named to the proper name of the controller. you can see here http://i.imgur.com/TlJqzqC.png

though I magically fixed my particular issue, steam no longer uses my desktop configuration with this controller (even though it still apears in the controller settings, and I cannot deregister it from my account). it just stopped happening at some point, I think after I disabled ALL the unofficial controllers and restarted steam.

It's correct as is. It always shows up in Steam as a controller, but it's either the format that you see right now or when opted into the configurable the name shows up as ControllerType:ControllerName, it has a controller specific icon, and screen shows the account/identify support/etc.

Im new here, can someone tell me hoy can I get support directly from Valve?

Controller are registered all the time now, but that's not why you are seeing issues.

There was a fix pushed today for a lot of the issues that people are seeing with last week's stable client release. Opt into the beta or wait for today's fix to get merged into the stable client (probably later this week).

I had a similar problem and with the combination of another post and what I had figured out so far a was able to delete e reconfigure my GENERIC controller. I am not sure but it may work for the Steam controler.

1- Steam - settings - account - beta participation- change to: steam beta update
In the meantime and before restarting steam I did. (Not sure if beta is required)

BACKUP BEFORE DELETING IS ADVISED
You may delete configurations and preferences from ALL your controllers.

2- Find: \Steam\userdata\-YOUR USER NUMBER-\241100\remote - Deleted everything, including the remotecache in the directory before
3- Steam\userdata\----------\config\controller_configs\personalization - Deleted everything.
4- \Steam\userdata\----------\config\controller_configs\apps - Deleted everything.
5- Open steam - big picture - settings - controller settings - uncheck your target box - connect controller and see if steam recognises it - disconnect - check box - connect and by this point it sould give you option like is a new controller.

Space - in the beta client the ability to re-define the button layout of generic controllers was restored. There's now a button under the controller in controller settings.

Even better! That is one of the major motives I had for wanting to clear my controller record.
