Steam Controller Joystick mode won`t work in Unreal Engine editor.
As the title summarizes. I'm having issues with the steam controller registering as a xinput controller in Unreal Engine Editor. I'm running Windows 10. Keyboard and mouse input seems to work fine. Also when I build my game and run from Big Picture it works as xinput. Minimizing Big Picture in the new beta has no affect. Is there something I'm doing wrong? Or is this an issue with Steam Controller and/or Unreal?

The only way to add native steam controller support to a game title is by using Steamworks api.

What are you trying to do?
I`m working on a game in Unreal Engine Editor. In Steam Big Picture settings I`ve set the steam controller to act like an xbox controller in desktop configuration. But in Unreal editor I can not move my character. Only once I've built my game and added it as a steam shortcut with it`s own configuration does it work. I mostly just want variable speed from the joystick/ left trackpad, instead of using WASD. In the grand scheme not a major issue really. Just annoying building game everytime I want variable speed for playtesting.
Same issue. I've setup the controller to act like an XBox controller for the desktop configuration, with true left joystick mapping. It isn't working with input axis mapping that work with an XBox controller. :steamsad:
You can set it to Xinput on the desktop but it does nothing. This has been the case since we were given the ability to configure desktop configs at all. The fact that you can still select it likely means it will work someday but not now or for the near future.
So I just added Unreal editor (under Program Files (x86)) as a non-steam game. On first run, the left joystick worked, but nothing else. After reviewing some other posters (in another thread) notes, I opened the controller configuration in the "Big Picture Mode" (Would be nice to configure things from normal Steam view), and modified the controller settings for Unreal (in my library). After basically re-creating the X-Box controller configuration, I saved the config. Launched UE 4.10 from within Steam, and now the controller works! What's kinda interesting to me is that the desktop settings don't seem to apply when I'm running UE from the normal Epic launcher. This seems like an acceptable workaround for now until Valve fixes whatever is preventing the desktop bindings from working. :steamhappy:
