Steam Controller

Can't "hold down" buttons with controller
So I've run into something somewhat odd. Up until now, the controller has been working flawlessly, but suddenly and intermittently it wont send that a button is held down. If I hold the button, the game responds as though I pushed it and let go. To make things more odd, the controller works normally if one of the analog axes is engaged (so, either trigger or the analog stick).

This happens whether I'm using it wired or wirelessly and in all games (most annoyingly Just Cause 3. Many of the games' functions work by telling the difference between a press and a hold). I've re-paired the controller, cycled steam and my desktop, run steam as administrator, reinstalled steam and looked up how to factory reset the controller and came up wanting.

Any help would be appreciated.

you're also in the steam beta?
Battery level?
2 things I can think of, Check the batteries like AngryHatter said.. though My controller worked flawlesly till it just droped dead.

Also make sure you don't have Repeat (Turbo) turned on for the buttons in the configuration screen. That will press and release then press then release the button (forever) while you are holding down the button.

I am in the steam beta, yes. Batteries are new, and it happens when plugged in. Turbo isn't on (I even turned it on then back off).

While we're here. Do we know of a way to factory reset the controller?

edit: Something else I've just noticed (that's difficult to describe): The button graphics seem to be misaligned on the configuration screen (look at the "X" graphic on this image http://i.imgur.com/oxHpxSJ.jpg).

I'm not sure at all if this is related, and it's still there after another reinstall. So does steam leave any files on one's computer even after running the uninstall? Can I hunt them down, delete them then go with a totally clean installation?

Same problem here. I can't setup holding function on buttons. In Dark Souls you need to hold B button to sprint or just press to roll. controller options should have this function hold/press...:steamfacepalm:

I have this same issue and I can't find any help for it online. One day my joypad works perfectly and the other it keeps on with a thing I heard somebody call it "typematic repeat".

I am having the same issue. I was trying to play some Snowrunner today and I noticed it. I switched to my other controller and the same issue. I booted up Dark Souls 3 and had the same issue. I switched over to my nintendo switch pro controller and had the same issue. Something about steam's controllers seems to be broken.
