Steam Controller

morgoth322 3 DIC 2015 a las 10:49 a. m.
Project 64
I don't know if this has been mentionned before so let's go.

If you want use the steam controller with that emulator look for
"Shunyuan's DirectInput plugin v1.2"
This plugin will recognize the controller as a 360 pad and you will get analog stick working.

I'm still looking for idea with epsxe if anyone can help.

Mednafen is the most accurate and supports multi discs with only one *.m3u file but it's not an easy 1 to configure.

Alright for latest epsxe do this.

Get yourself a copy of epsxe latest and unpack it.
http://www.epsxe.com/
get a copy of pokopom - xinput plugin and extract it to the plugins folder
http://ngemu.com/threads/pokopom-xinput-pad-plugin.145013/
create a inis folder under epsxe folder

go here http://ngemu.com/threads/peteopengl2tweak-tweaker-for-peteopengl2-plugin-w-gte-accuracy-hack.160319/ and grab latest one (as of now gpuPeteOpenGL2Tweak22.bin.zip)
unpack it in the plugins folder
setup epsxe to use PeteOpenGL2 Tweaks 2.2 (name might change with later updates)
make sure you have Pete's OpenGL2 Driver 2.9 (in plugins folder)
http://www.pbernert.com/html/gpu.htm#OGL2

Run epsxe once and check so game starts fine.
now enter epsxe\inis and open "gpuPeteOpenGL2Tweak.ini"

find the section at the bottom labeled [PadPlugin] and change the 2 lines below to this
Port1 = plugins\padPokopom.dll
Port2 = plugins\padPokopom.dll

now add epsxe as a non steam game and fire up BPM. Configure your steam controller to game pad mode and enjoy latest epsxe with your steam controller.

To add to this I'd suggest looking into ice rom manager for importing your retro console games into steam as there own game with attractive banners and launching them directly instead of having to launch the emulator and selecting them just pick the game like any other steam game.

I tried this plugin and it does not recognize steam controller as xinput. On version 2.2 and set steam controller to gamepad in desktop mode and am using nrage.

are you talking about project64? Then it shouldn't see the controller but the controller will work when you launch a game within project64 (you must launch project64 trough steam and has it configured to game pad). Desktop/game pad mode does not work so don't try to use that.

Yes, I tried setting the rom as a steam shortcut too, the shortcut launches from steam bpm but the pj64 windows doesn't have the steam overlay locked to it like one would expect. This appears to be causing the bpm controller settings on that shortcut to not holding when the shortcut is running (also set to gamepad), it just reverts to desktop controls after opening the rom (on desktop keyboard works but not gamepad).

As previously stated, Gamepad mode DOES NOT work on desktop bindings. DO NOT use any other software and but PJ64.exe as the non steam shortcut only. Turn the controller OFF leave it off till you open your first game. Turn the controller ON and close the game with F12. From there it works a treat and you can set up the controls from withing PJ64 all day long. Do NOT try to use command line arguments or steam shortcuts to roms or games only directly to PJ64.exe alone. Play with other stuff after you get it working and the controls setup. hulkenstrong has already described this in THIS thread. Do this and it will work fine only post after you have done this if you have a problem.

I can't get this to work.

This is my process:

- Launch Project 64 through steam
- Open rom (Banjo Kazooie for example)
- Close rom with F12
- ?? I can't edit any settings in Project 64 for my steam controller, this is what I get: http://i.imgur.com/b57XzQm.jpg

Any help? :)

Did you try with the plugin mentionned in the OP ?

No problem here.

Mine only works half the time, for some reason desktop mode takes over if you alt tab or change emu to fulscreen, it works, but not all the time for me.

Personally, I couldn't say what it is but have you tried unchecking the "allow launchers" option? That may make is easier since it will apply the config the moment PJ64 is launched so you can configure the controller before opening the first game. You will still need to turn off the SC to launch the first game but that might help.

Where do I find that option? :)

It is checked by default and you uncheck it to switch to a focus based game detection scheme. In Dolphin, PCSX2 and DesMuME I have an action set for menus and such with another for games so I don't lose smooth mousing and such for game loading. For PJ64, you will still have to have a KB and Mouse on hand anyways since the SC will have to be off in order to load a game. So load PJ64 normally with the SC on and this option off, Configure controls, Close the emulator, turn off the SC, Load the emulator and one game first, turn the SC on. From there it will work as normally. You can even F12 close the game and load another without turning the SC off.
