I have a SteamLink and a SteamOS machine. So, once paired with both, you can power on with A + Steam Button to have it cycle to the paired mode for that device. This works because the SteamLink doesn't need the dongle.
So in my controllers menu, I realized that I have a ton of vJoy device drivers detected as controllers. How do I get rid of them?
UPDATE 1: I just uninstalled the vJoy drivers and they're gone. That was easier than I thought.
UPDATE 2: I'm at this screen http://i.imgur.com/QsOzTQW.png but when I hold the Steam button and X nothing happens. I tried it while the controller is turning on and while it is already on and nothing happens. My wireless receiver is plugged in and I know it is because the Steam logo in the middle of the controller isn't blinking. It is constantly on, which means that the wireless connection is working fine. But still, none of the inputs are working, on desktop, big picture, or in game.
Expand "Razor Device"
Unplug/replug steam dongle (Take note of which things disappear, reappear when you do this)
Right click on all those devices and select "Uninstall"
If you have a check box asking to uninstall software as well, make sure you check it first.
Unplug/replug steam dongle
Start big picture, go to settings/controller/add steam controller
Hold x and steam button when powering on
It's just an HID device to a windows system until it sees BPM or Steam.
Okay so I just uninstalled that "Other Devices" SC driver and then unplugged/plugged back in the wireless receiver (so its called a dongle. huh.) and it installed correctly. It is working perfectly now. Thank you so much :D
I like how Steam Support can't do ♥♥♥♥ about this but some random people in the community can. 10/10 would read the faq again
I'm sort of curious why some people run into this issue.
1. Remove dongle from steam link
2. Insert dongle into PC running steam
3. Go into steam big picture settings
4. Select "Controller Settings"
5. Select "Add controller"
6. Hold X and press steam controller power button
7. Press validation code
8. Remove dongle from PC and insert back into Steam Link
9. Profit.
I hope this helps anyone who didn't have any issues regarding a "Razer Device", as I had nothing like that on my PC.
