I would love to use the Gyro in space-sims, but I found out that space-sims either do mouse-keyboard or do gamepad. To get it completely right, a single game needs a lot of tweaking.
OTOH: I've played with portal2 (with support) using steam link, and it was quite ok, but still forgetting the gyro aim now and then...
I've even tried aiming with gyro on half-life source, and that also helps.
Gyro aim+trackball aim (mouse mode) still wins hands down compared to any gamepad I've tried.
But usually with gamepad I can use autoaim, which takes away frustration.
So whatever your preference, the controller is quite good but takes a long time of practicing. The worst part of it though, is that you first have to figure out how you want to control something.
Anyway: I would love to use gyro steering in eurotrucker 2, but eurotrucker 2 in steamos doesn't see the steamcontroller as an analog input (it sees no controller but the mouse), and therefore only accepts digital input. With a real steering wheel that game is already a lot better, but a steering gyro which also helps you look around for traffice would be even better.
And no, eurotrucker 2 does not support VR on steamos.
Correct me if im wrong but isn't there a way to make it work correctly in linux? Coulda sworn there was some command line stuff posted in some other threads about that exact issue. I havent used linux for over a decade so my own knowledge is grossly out dated and inaccurate but im sure there is someone who can help you.
I use it for when i run out of pad i dont use it for sole aiming, it works for CSGO but for CoD the game is made for sticks its hard to be better then them, let alone with aim assist lol
If you add haptic feedback to the gyro control it actually helps a lot. It then feels like ratcheting the aim around... It's very satisfying.
On consoles there's a ton of input lag like destiny is 109ms vs CSGO which is 20-30ms so aim assist is needed there. Unfortunately people just think cod + sticks + no aim assist? Can't be done. Well, it can, just on PC xD and its just not popular enough to get light on it.
The haptic feedback is better then nothing, but there's no feel to it so itll still feel floaty like a IR remote. could be worse, could be no gyro lol
75%+ Splatoon players use GYRO on the Wii U:

And here is Nintendo's version of the steam controller

This is mostly Valve's fault. They kept it hidden. They will need to contact those sites and youtubers so they can do updates or follow up videos.
and add TUTORIALS like this to the SC STORE PAGE and FIRST SETUP...

Would be sad if this controller failed, just because of MISINFORMATION...
The MORE people know about the ADVANCED features, the MORE AND BETTER TEMPLATES for the less savvy users.
the gyro for spurtoons only the most common purely out of being far better than joysticks
it still has tons of flaws
Honestly, if I'm going to play let's say Borderlands 2 on my couch. I would rather use a Steam controller that actually offers a way of aiming alright than having to use a K/M on my coffee table.
