Steam Controller on Fallout New Vegas
Has anyone been able to get this to work properly? The game has partial controller support, works fine with an xbox controller, real mouse and keyboard, or the steam controller set to gamepad input, but won't work with the steam controller set to mouse input. Works fine with the newer Borderlands Pre Sequel and even the much older Witcher 1.

FNV (and other Bethesda games) allow using the controller or mouse and keyboard but not both at the same time. If you play with a 360 controller then the mouse and keyboard will be ignored.

So your options are to play with the controller mapped as a mouse and keyboard (which should work pretty well but makes some of the UI harder to use) or mapped entirely as a controler which makes aiming more difficult.
Yes, but playing with the controller mapped as a mouse and keyboard won't work for me for just this one game and I'm wondering if anyone else is having this problem with this specific game.
Hi ive got the same problem ill tryed some profiles from the community and even my own but it dint work for Fallout NV. I disabled the controls with the 360 cotroller in the options but still no response from the Steam Controller. In other games it works fine like MGS Phantom Pain or Resident Evil . Ill hope some one got a fix for Fallout NV
You have to disable gampad in the settings for keyboard + mouse to work,
Try setting the right pad as Joystick mouse.
You're going to have to set Right Pad input as Joystick Mouse, and fiddle with settings til all feels natural. It's kind of wonky with New Vegas specifically, but works OK for the most part. Also, make a mode shift to turn Right Pad into an analog input, so you can properly navigate VATS.

Ill tryed it but still no response i can feed the vibrating feedback of the controller but nothing happens like its not connected (but it is)
I use a standard gamepad template and set the right pad to mouse joystick (trackball emulation). Then just tweak it to suit. Works fine. I also set it to turn down mouse movement when using iron sights.
I also got M+K to work, but I wasn't really happy with the result. I wish Bethesda would fix their controls.
I had gone through this with a new controller user yesterday. I was trying to help out and in FNV he was having BPM mode not activate. Though the game was launched through BPM. I had this happen with Blade of Time once and the next day it went back to normal. I mention this so persons with issues can make sure to look at the overlay and see if this is a replicateable bug or just some beta hiccup nonsense. Mayhaps be sliver of the problem.
I think the real question is why aren't you playing Fallout 4 ????? :p2cube:

I think SOME people hate paying 60 bucks on any game when its not actually finished till the DLC happens. :steammocking:
