Thanks for the idea.
Have never used a Trackball and it first appeared strange to me but trackball mode with acceleration on either low or middle is what i'm using for most of the games i have tested and it just works great.
It's Valve's fault for not even placing some tutorials or videos on the store page for people buying it.
Then when they get it, they literally "don't get it"...
Anyway does your template use Gyro?
I believe the way it works is if I create a binding it saves to that particular games bindings menu, I don't think you can browse through all bindings created by a user and pick one for any game, which really sucks because that means you have to recreate your bindings again for every game, when Half Life and Portal are 'very' similar. If I'm wrong please let me know but that's how I believe it works.
So in theory, if you open up the original Portal, my binding should be there under 'User Created Bindings' I'll update the post with my rough settings as well too to help you set up your own.
this should really help:

Thank you, for the video. I must say that Gyro 'thing' is pretty new to me and i can't remember that the controller would be equipped with it. I really have to gonna make some serious time for it and figure it out how i like it it best. The problem is, when it takes longer then 5 minutes, it is working on my nerves and i grab my old xbox gamepad. But the sticks are also messed up and keep drifting all the way.
Anyway, maybe it is me but, is there anyone else that think the quality of the xbox360 and xbox1 are really bad. I have bought too many of them and i myst say the sticks feel lighter and makes strange sounds when you move in any direction. A friend of me bought one from China and they are also from a very poor quality. So I bought one of those Chrome 'special editions' controller but the precision of the sticks where also as bad as those from my friend. That was the reason why i wanted the Steam controller because i've had it with MS. I must say the wired controller for xbox360 i still like the most. I bought a newer Xbox1 controller, but it only last a week. i heard a loud crack and found out that I pressed the Left Stick Button through the print and when i shaked it a little bit i heard some plastick parts in it. So that was for me enough. They raise the prizes, but lower the quality controls. So I am very HAPPY with the new controller. No money from me goes to MS anymore. the steam controller must become the new standard.
