isnt bad cuz you dont have the 2 analog stick??? ........
whitout the right analog stick how can you do the high skills dribbling?
This is with Big Picture, streaming to Steam Link with a Steam Controller.
I've discovered that I was starting FIFA (fifa16.exe and fifaconfig.exe) in admin mode, due to some unrelated Origin bug, which was fixed in the mean time.
After revoking admin privileges for the 2 FIFA exe files, @lee-laa's method is currently working for me.
Hope that this helps someone from here!
1. turn off origin overlay
2. completely exit origin
3. start steam big picture mode
4. use the controller to go to your game library (you should have already entered fifa 16 as a non-steam game)
5. hit the "A" button to start fifa 16.
*6. click on manage shortcut > controller configuration
7. make sure the buttons look like they are configured for xbox 360 buttons and joysticks
I went to BioShock Infinite and looked at the controller configuration and basically made the fifa 16 look just like it. You can have a different configurations for each game you have. If you dont have bioshock infinite, just look at any game you already have on steam that says the steam controller can use it, preferrably a mainstream game thats on many platforms like bioshock or CoD or any xbox or ps4 game. Its easy to map the keys accordingly after that. Might take you like 5 minutes.
8. Enjoy!
Can not recommend to buy such a hardware... you should buy simple Xbox-Controller instead and it simply works out of the box with most (if not all) games you'll ever play. The steam controller sucked up with nearly every game that I would play with a controller. Even though the HW itself feels good, the software support makes this a waste of time.
The Controller actually does work, and it is not a double input. It works exactly the way you'd expect. The only thing I've found is that I cannot do skill games because for some reason it wants me to use the keyboard. But since I have both mappings readily available, it is not a big deal as I just change the mapping from the overlay to practice.
Hey Everyone
After dealing with this for a couple of days, I finally found a solution that works for me. I can't guarantee that it will work for you, but it might be worth a shot.
When I first got my SC, i tried simply running Fifa 16 from Origin and obviously that didn't work. Then I tried to run Fifa16 from steam, added as a non-steam game. Still nothing. Then I tried adding Origin to steam, opening origin from Big Picture Mode and then opening Fifa, still nothing.
I read about all the overlay stuff, the compatibility modes and all that, and finally I decided to simply mimic my controller to the keyboard and that seems to work for me. So here is what I have done.
1. Find the origin.exe, right click it and set it to run in compatibility mode for Windows 7
2. Find the Fifa16.exe and also set it to windows 7 compatibility.
3. I opted for the Origin client beta and got that installed
4. I disabled the origin in-game overlay
5. Close down Origin completely. Then use Steam Big Picture mode to start origin. Doing this will allow you to open the steam overlay in Origin games.
6. Set my controllers in Fifa16 to be keyboard only
7. Go into the fifa settings and see the control layout and then map your controller to the desired keyboard keys.
For example, I have mapped Y as through balls, B as shoot, A for short passes, abd X for lob passes. I sprint with the right clicker, finesse shots is right shoulder. I pretty much mimic the PS4 layout. You can use either the left directional pad or the joystick for player movement.
It isn't perfect, but it lets me play Fifa 16 and Fifa 15 and will likely work with Fifa 17 when it comes out later in September!
I hope someone found this useful.
Also, I have an AMD Graphics card and I am running the newest Crimson drivers.
When I do run Fifa though, it DOES recognise a controller as well I just haven't been able to set up the controls properly because I cannot press "start" on the opening screen.
