Where are saved controller configurations located?

Does Steam save controller configurations to specific files on the hard drive? If so, does anyone know where they are?

Steam\controller_base holds a bunch of default configs and templates, as well as steamdesktop.vdf which you can modify to change its default behavior outside of BPM. The custom configurations are saved in Steam\userdata\userid\241100\remote\controller_config\appid. You can find how to look up appid's here.

I can't find my configuration for "desktop" (I made some modifications), but I can't find where they live.

When he said "userid" he meant your Steam ID. For example, I'm Endruen, so I have a folder named Endruen. Got it?

Hey Im necroing this post again lol. When I go to the remote folder there is no controller_config folder? Why is that?

My friend, you will have to be a bit more specific. The OP is from 2015 so this is what I would do...

Make a new thread, post explicitly what your goal is and exactly where you went. Directories and how the whole system works has changed massively since then. To be frank, I am not going to answer here at all. A new thread, however, will be useful to both you and to others who may happen across it.

I will also promise that by the end of tonight if no one else has answered you in a satisfactory way, I will. I am subbed to the main SC forums and see every post made here so I can pick and choose.

Sorry, but there just isn't any reason to necro such an old thing again, especially with all the changes, it just muddies the waters too much and confuses others who may need the same answers too.

Nowadays, the desktop configuration is located at: "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\userdata\userid\config\controller_configs\apps\413080\45e-b12-e1ae86e\guest", at least, thats where I found mine.

Nowadays, the desktop configuration is located at: "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\userdata\userid\config\controller_configs\apps\413080\45e-b12-e1ae86e\guest", at least, thats where I found mine.

Those are for the older ones. Any clue where i can find the new location? The new big picture seems to store them somewhere else.

Yup. Can't find my desktop config.
Found the old files, but those are no longer in use anymore it seems, as the config in them is outdated.
And the last modified date is years old.

On the Controller Layout landing page, where you see View Layout, Edit Layout etc, choose gear icon > Layout Details
