Haptic Feedback not working?
Haptic Feedback not working?

When i turn on the controller i get the sensation of haptic feedback working for like 10 seconds or so then only every so often you get the feeling with the track pads but it never does work when ingame...seems like a false advertised feature or its broken atm :S

This happened to me, too. Unboxed two controllers, got that nice clicking sensation on the trackball working for maybe 5-10 minutes, then the rumbling stopped. If I put my ear to the controller while I flick the trackball, I hear a very faint buzzing in the same pattern, like the motor is trying but failing to move. Both controllers started failing about after 5-10 minutes of use with each one.
I've spent several hours trying different games and nothing works...I tried Rocket League, Portal 2, Unreal Tournament 3 etc and i still cant get haptic feedback to work while ingame :( and yes i did enable it via big picture mode and even increased the sensitivity all the way up to high and not even a bit of feedback from the touch pads :S
Haptic Feedback doesn't work for me for some reason...it works for like a couple of seconds when i turn on the controller but then after never work not even ingame and yes i have enabled Haptic feedback and tweaked the sensitivity all the way to high and i still don't get a single bit of feeling in the controller...what am i doing wrong???
Its because when steam is on the controllers haptic setting gets turned to low or off, you can overwrite it by editing the controllers desktop configs:

Cheers!
that doesn't help one bit...i want to feel the Haptics when i touch the trackpads when in game and i don't feel any sensation from the track pads at all...no rumble...no sound from these so called motors that are supposed to exist..

Basically Haptic Feedback is a non working feature and a scam for them to even advertise considering i have them enabled via settings and nothing works...

It works fine for me. It could be that your firmware is in some race condition, or even worse, you may have a hardware defect.

and what games have you tried that work with the haptics?

Well, I feel the haptics in keyboard+mouse mode outside of BPM, and then I also feel the haptics (just barely because I didn't feel the need to tweak them from the default they were at) using my profile that I uploaded for Valkyria Chronicles.
See am not even feeling anything when on Desktop...the only time i ever feel the haptics is when you first turn on the controller you feel the haptics for the 15 or so seconds as the controllers turning itself on and connects to the device...
If you feel it when you turn it on, then that sounds like some sort of firmware race condition. Have you updated the controller firmware?
yeah i updated the controller when i first got asked about it via big picture mode :spycon: i wonder if there's a way to reflash the firmware or factory reset it :S
Okay i managed to get the Haptic Feedback to work but the effort i had to go through was unexcusable and Valve should be ashamed of themselves with how poorly this Steam Hardware launch has been...i found unplugging the Controller and reconnecting it fixed my issues, though my issues where in relation to the HD Haptic Feedback not working for me so i manage to fix it by having to Disconnect and Reconnecting it every time until it eventually started to work...it's Pathetic how poorly Steam Hardware is working in its current state...

I knew there gonna be the odd Bug and Glitch but ffs for the most part the Steam Controller is unusable...as for the Link it also has it's flaws...Here's hoping Valve fix all the Steam Controller and Link troubles sooner than later.

I had the same problem as you csta. I was not getting any haptic feedback from the right side track pad. I was on wireless. I removed the wireless adapter and plugged in the controller and all of a sudden I got haptic feedback on the right side track pad.
It's still a hit and miss for me...seems i cant get Haptic feedback via wireless :steamsad: also i never feel any Haptics in the Right pad yet i can feel them in the face buttons and analog stick :S
Tryto swap the batteries or try another one. The controller is separated into 2 parts, each is powered by 1 battery (well i think so). I heared some strange things about battery issues.
